Adkins and Vannatters
Hello Ralph,

Edward and Susan Adkins had a daughter Mary E. Adkins. Do you know who she married? Did she marry a Vannatter?

I descend from Andrew Irvin Vannatter who was married to Mary Alice Adkins. I am looking for her parents. The Edward Adkins family lived near the Vannetter family in 1880 so I thought I would start with you.

Thank you Anna Styles

She is my Great Grandmother. I have heard that she was an Indian. Is there any truth to this statement?

Hello Cousin
Hi Ralph,

We've not ever met but we are actually first cousins. Our mother's are sisters. My mother is Carolyn Foster Adrian.

Thank you for putting all of the Foster information on this site. I was really touched by all of the content and memories.

My mother has often spoken and wondered what happened to her sister's family. I know she'd love to hear from you. I grew up looking at pictures of you all that she has kept all of these years. She asked me if I could contact you when I told her of this site. I do hope to hear back from you.

RE: Sherrod and Sarah Lucas Adkins Grave Markers
This is about what I have decided. Thank you so much for the response, and also for taking the time to discover this and for sharing the information. Much appreciated. I too wonder why I find the date of birth for Sherrod everywhere as 1765. I wonder what is the source for that date?

Sherrod and Sarah Lucas Adkins Grave Markers
Thank you for posting the grave markers of Sherrod and Sarah Lucas Adkins. I am a Lucas family descendant and am interested in knowing where these markers are located, and also am having trouble reading them. Are you able to decipher these stones? I would appreciate knowing how you obtained these pictures also. Thank you.

RE: Richard Adkins
Hello again Ralph I sure do appreciate that response and it has provided further light upon my investigation into this brother who laid his working tools down in 1946. I believe all of Richard most immediate family is buried near him well I mean his father, mother, brothers, and one infant daughter. His other childern are buried elsewhere. I also found a census report from 1900 that listed 8 children for richard the last being a Willard Adkins but on his birth cert. it list different parents than richard and olive adkins but the birth dates are the same for the child...I just wonder if maybe richard maybe adopted one of his relatives kids...I also found Richard Adkins listed as a Justice of the Peace for 1910 in Lincoln County from a WV Blue Book being registered as a Democrat from the Minerva District. Also a W.W. Adkins as the another JOP from the Ranger District at the same time. I also found a Richard Adkins that was tried for mudering an ASA Spears from branchland in 1920, ASA also went by Julian..I dont even know if these last 2 Richard Adkins are the same person but would like to find out. I think was most intrigued me about this man is the square and compass on his marker and also the year he was born was when the civil war broke out and what I can tell he father, uncles, etc. owned quite a few slaves and I wondered how this all divided his family. Richard was also discharged from the service during WWI for some reason..Sorry I have rambled on and on just a lot of questions I have stumped myself on I was rasied on Laurel Fork of Leet WV and these old cemetaries have intrigued me all of my life. I would also like to see Hansford obit if you dont care to send it...my email is cobra_guy@hotmail.com thanks and god speed Michael C. Sutherland
