Both sides of my family settled on farms near Cherokee, Alfalfa County, Oklahoma when the Cherokee Strip opened up. I have been researching my family tree for many years and keep finding new and interesting information. We moved to several states growing up, but I have lived in Colorado most of my life and raised my family here. My user name on Ancestry is the same as here (jsblackledge).|

Hi Janet. I noticed on Ada's bio, it has Ethel listed as Mrs. George Halcomb. I have that Ethel married to Harry H Girod. I also have that she is buried with him. Do you know where the name George Halcomb comes in? Thanks, Joy

You're right--the dates do not match up. I checked the Grayson County cemetery book to see if I had transcribed it correctly, and I had. I have not been to that cemetery, so do not have any photos. Maybe I'll get there on one of my trips. In the meantime, I'll put a note on the memorial. Thanks so much for catching this!!!
I saw on FindAGrave.com that you added a photo of Cherokee Cemetery located in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma.
I speculate that a great-aunt was buried in the cemetery sometime between 1900 and 1910. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to connect with any volunteers to locate the grave, nor have I had any luck connecting with local county officials. A letter to the local genealogical society was returned undeliverable (the address was no longer valid). A letter to the city, which is in charge of the cemetery, was also never answered.
Anyway, I wonder if you have information about burials at the cemetery?
I'm trying to confirm whether a Lucinda (Dornon) Stanley was buried there. I believe the research suggests yes, particularly given that her second husband Levi Stanley appears to have been buried there. Accordingly, I've created a FindAGrave memorial for her hoping to elicit confirmation of her burial.
I appreciate any pointers or assistance you may be able to provide.

Hello again. I opted to just transfer the memorial to you since you are relation. You can make the changes as necessary.

Hello! I got your edit requests. I was wondering if you had a source for her birth date. The source I have listed her death & age at death. if she died at 37 in 1853 she would have been born about 1826.
Also, the father you suggested shows a birth year only 6 years before hers (or 1 year with your birth year suggestion of 1821).
Please let me know if you have further information. Thank you!
You asked for a transfer of Gladys Stallings. Could you please let me know the name of your parents.

Thank you. I agree that there probably isn't a marker. Having the location of the burial plot is a nice way to solidify where this little one is buried.

I noticed that you suggested edits for 5 of my Killion relatives (my paternal grandmother was Mary Eliza Killion 1875-1971). Are you a Killion relative to these people? I also noticed from your profile that you live in Colorado, I live in Centennial. If you are related and would like to talk, send me your phone number via my email (available from my profile page) and I will give you a call.
