"Every cemetery gives a history of people that once lived, loved & worked hard to scrape up a living for their Families. It's important to take Photos of All Gravestones while they are Still Readable, Writings Wash Out or Vandalism Destroys them". Laurie S Tokarsky
" Consider, Friend, as you pass by: As You are now, so once was I. As I am now, You shall be. Prepare, therefore, to follow me ". A Scottish Gravestone epitaph.
The Rose Upon The Wall
" A Rose once grew where all could see,
sheltered beside a garden wall,
And as the days passed swiftly by,
it spread its branches, straight and tall...
One day, a beam of light shone through
a crevice that had opened wide
The Rose bent gently toward its warmth
then passed beyond to the other side.
Now, you who deeply feel its loss,
be comforted- the Rose blooms there -
it's beauty even greater now, nurtured by
God's own loving care " a shorter version
of A L Frink's Rose Beyond the Wall
" Dear Ancestor,
Your gravestone stands among the rest;
Neglected & alone
The name & date are chiseled out
On polished, marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I existed
You died & I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone
Our Blood contracts & beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived & loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you ".

I'm the Genealogist for Clan Macneil USA, tracing the Scots-American descendants.
I've been assisting a member with his genealogy. He's descended from William Levi Strope's second wife, Rachel Strope, Pearl House being the first wife.
Unfortunately, I have no other input on Pearl, and completely understand what a mess the Strope family proves to be!!

I'm not sure how vested you are in the Patterson family so I wanted to give you this information for your records as well as to be able to correct their memorials.
Nathaniel died 23 Jan 1874, his first (m approx 1829) wife Jane Vanderburg or Van den Burg died in 1860. His second wife was Betsey (m approx 1860) maiden name and precise death date undetermined.
They are all buried in Mount Prospect Cemetery according to pictures of their headstones. Those memorials were created prior to the ones you added.
The original memorials are 39014638 39014663 39014653
Also, it appears that contributor has a duplicate for one child created after yours but do have the correct cemetery. Perhaps you can work with them for a merge. Mary Jane Patterson Slocum memorial numbers 101363100 and 95752681 plus her husbands two duplicate memorials.
Let me know if you need anything, I do have census records to show Nathaniels death and new wife plus Betsey's last will listing her step children.

Laurie, please delete Find A Grave # 109082044. Oliver and Zulima are buried at the Root Family Cemetery, which is located on the old Root farm south of Franklinville, New York. The correct Find A Grave was created in 2010.
If anyone is interested in the Root line going back to the surname 'Routtes', in France, I have just created the Ancestry.com tree named Ancestors of Raymond Root. Ron Root also has an Ancestry tree named Root-Steele Heritage Extended - see his Gallery.

I think your memorial is probably a duplicate of #13739592 in West Carthage. I had sent a couple of edits which could be ignored. They do seem to be the same person and the memorial above has pictures and also his wife.
|Vern713||George Hoch # 93386014|
George's memorial mentions a number of children but does not mention Patricia Ann Hoch which George's wife Jeanne's obit mentions. Do you know if there was a Patricia Ann Hoch as a child of George and Jeanne? Patricia has deceased according to Jeanne's obit.

|Barbara Hanno||Martin family|
Hi Laurie, I am doing research on the Martins in Mt Holly VT for a friend. I see you have Jefferson (128223123) and Rhoda Martin (128223039) in the Martin-Wilder cemetery which I have heard has no standing stones. Your post has specific birth and death dates and lists year, months, days of age as if read from a gravestone or a paper transcription. Would you be able to tell me where this information came from? We would really appreciate it as we gather the documentation on this family. Thanks! Barbara Hanno
