Bio and Links
Bio Photo My main purpose on find a grave was to make a lasting memorial of my loved ones for future generations to have and treasure. So many times important dates and information about life events and achievements get lost. We think after someone is gone...I wish I asked mom about her family. We all want to know where we came from.

I am searching family names from Southern Illinois: (Jerseyville; Greene Co.; surrounding area) Brown; Wallace; Bruce; Redman; Poor; Murphy and Hand. These are people on my fathers side.

Any of my pictures or information may be shared.

I use to take pictures of headstones, but in my area here in Peoria, IL. I have noticed that the cemeteries are now saying, they do not give permission for non family taking pictures of headstones. It is a challenge just to get a location of a headstone to take a picture. When I try to explain Find A Grave to them...they shut down.
Find A Grave...maybe its time to reach out to the cemetery community and explain what's going on. I have had some cemetery officials say that someone is making money off these pictures. Or a privacy issue...which might be a factor??
Anyway, not taking anymore headstone pic requests.

Death, why do you come to my thoughts
after so many a year? I never had time
for you or even gave you a care.

Now with trembling limbs I nudge close to
those slumber doors. Can I take a peek, NO!
Is that death making its self-known?

All my life I have not known you.
Now I can feel you lurking aboutÖwhatís
this ache? Whatís this new pain?

I take a walk through fallen leaves and I
look about the sky and delight in the day.
Are there many more for me?

Why do I feel this way? Oh, I see
itís the quiet one drawing me in.
Do I make friends with you? Will you be
kind in the end?

Do you have some hideous disease for me,
Or will you let me slip into slumber with
such ease? Oh, Iíve seen the pain others have had. Please tell me, what death will be mine?

Over time you have become a constant and
familiar companion. I donít fear you as much
and know when you are near. When the end
is upon me and I know it will come, I
will welcome your presence like a long
awaited friend.

Guide me to my loved ones that are waiting for me. I have my place at the wedding supper you see. So when you come, come quickly for me, my dear friend.

Hand Family Will
I've looked but I can't find whether or not I ever replied to your kind email response regarding the Hand family! Please accept my apologies if I did not! I am on Ancestry and would love to compare trees if you agree.
Would you still be willing to send me a copy of David Hand's will? I would be most grateful if you would.
Thank you so much!

Cemetery positions on photographs
I agree that some cemeteries are setting their own "standards" in not permitting any photos, citing privacy issues. Sadly, many are privately owned and can set their own regulations. FindAGrave provides a great service, especially to those of us who cannot travel to distant burial spots of relatives. It is a way of connecting. What is especially valuable is a burial GPS location since many cemetery records are woefully lacking in accuracy. So far, FindAGrave only makes money on the $5 fees that are voluntary to remove individual ads. And the advertisements, of course. I hope that this cemetery positioning is not a trend going forward. I find F-A-G a very useful site for placing photos and other items pertaining to the deceased. Keep up your good work.

Do you have any documentation to support the memorials you've created on the Bruce Family? I am a granddaughter of this line and have been researching for 30 years. I would love to have a copy of any documentation, pictures that you have and would be glad to share what I have with you.

Best regards,

I will delete mine for Dewey but will keep Mary's.

This is from help with Find A Grave:
How do I add a memorial when I'm not sure what cemetery they are buried?
This is similar to adding a memorial for cremation. Do not create a new cemetery which does not exist in order to add these memorials. Use the Family and Friends link and select the Burial: Other and then Recent Death, location of body unknown option. Location of body unknown is used for recent deaths where the disposition is not currently known.

** Final disposition must be determined and updated within 30 days. **

RE: Charles Hammel
Hi Jenny, thanks for the nice note. I understand your wanting to be sure about where Charles was put to rest. I "work" off a partial list of burials that was copied from the ledgers some time back. If you want to send an email to my email address that is posted on my home page, I can scan the list that has Charles name on it.
Springdale records are really great for the most part. I have a friend that has access to the actual ledgers, I will ask him to do a double check so we can get the lot location.
All the best, Debra

I believe we have talked before. William is my great grandfather so I would prefer to keep my memorials. Thank you.

Lola Bruce Brown Memorial 79840808
Hi. I could not attach an update to Lola Bruce Brown's memorial for some reason. It kept giving me an error, so I'm putting that information for her memorial here so that you can attach it.
I appreciate your support.

Conrad Stroup/Stroop-Memorial# 151511399

Conrad is my GGGG Grandfather through his son John (who ended up in Schuyler County, Illinois) and John's son Adam (who ended up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). Could you tell me your source for his birth and parent's names? I have been unable to verify his relationship to William Wihelm & Marie Elisabeth Stroup?

Some research I have done in book - Stroope/Stroop Family History-Vol. 1 by Connie Stroope Brooks & Kathy Stroope Veasy show a possible match with the Joh. (John) Contradt Straub, mentioned on pp. 275-280.

I think he was from around Wheeling, West Virginia (Virginia). Hoping to get someone to research further in that area.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Catherine Susan Mosshart Rippel
Katharine Susan Mosshart was my great aunt. She married George V. Rippel 14 Nov 1923 and died in a car accident 3 Jan 1950 after taking her son, I believe, back to college. She is buried with him in Dover Burial Park.
