RE: W. Randall at Guttenberg
No, leave Wilhelmine as she is. She used Sodawasser as her maiden name on her social security claim form (below).

U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007
Name: Wilhelmina Lamilda Randall
[Wilhelmina M Randall]
[Wilhelmina Lamilda Sodawasser]
Gender: Female
Race: White
Birth Date: 7 Apr 1902
Birth Place: Guttenberg, Iowa
Death Date: 26 Oct 1995
Claim Date: 23 Mar 1966
Father: Albert Sodawasser
Mother: Anna Behrend
SSN: 484248651
Notes: Sep 1957: Name listed as WILHELMINA LAMILDA RANDALL; 21 Mar 1966: Name listed as WILHELMINA M RANDALL

You may want to copy and paste the above in her bio section. I can't find an obituary for her but SHE was the one who put down Sodawasser as her maiden name.

Her regular social security death index record says she was living in Dubuque at the time of death. Most likely, her obituary is in a Dubuque newspaper because I can't find one for her in the Guttenberg Press.

RE: W. Randall at Guttenberg
Albert Sadewasser WAS the surname according to his obituary and his headstone. However, the children changed the spelling of their last name to Sodawasser, which is on their marriage records, in their marriage announcements and in all their obituaries and headstones.

I have that in common with family members on my mother's side. They changed the spelling of their last name.

The German's are notorious for doing it!

Just in case you haven't read it, I just added his State Death Certificate today. I sure do wish I could find out where his mother is buried. Have a great day.

If you have a subscription to ancestry.com, you can go here and find everything I have on him.

https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/17544455/person/1470597750/facts

His State Death Certificate says he was buried in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque, IA. His Lutheran death record at St Matthew church just gives when he died and age. If he wasn't interred at Linwood Cemetery, maybe he was cremated there. Or try different spellings of the surname, e.g. Stuttert, Stoterd, etc.

If you don't have a subscription to ancestry, you can send me your email address, and I will invite you to come in a view Charles Edward Stoddard.

It's wonderful what you are doing for Vets. Have a great day.

I poked around in the ground trying to find a GAR badge or something that most Civil War veterans have in Wyuka, but could not locate one. Thanks.
