Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood and bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you

|Marysue ||Miles Reed - Incorrect Death Date|
Miles Reed, buried in Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan, Riley Co., KS. You show he died 30 Dec 1912. His death record scan shows he died 13 Dec 1912. The Manhattan Daily Nationalist Newspaper, dated 13 Dec 1912, Fri, pg 1; says he died this morning. The same Newspaper dated 19 Dec 1912, Thurs, pg 1; mentions his funeral service was held at the Methodist church in Manhattan, Sunday 15 Dec 1912. I like to have at least different sources to prove a fact for my genealogy work.

Hi Aaron, I've submitted links to John's parents - how they ended up in Idaho (mother) and San Francisco (father) and John in Muscatine I haven't figured out but I have verified they are his parents. Thank you for creating the memorials and posting the photos.

Hello, You have done quite a bit of documentation on the above individual and other members of his family. Would you mind if I copied to my Ancestry page. I would of course credit you and the Find A Grave site for the documentation. Thank you, Gail Bice

I also emailed a message to you.
Hi. My great grandfather is AUSTIN W BLAKE. You have his son listed on his memorial but not my grandmother VESTA Catherine Blake. Eldon W. Blake was her brother. I used the # and added him on to Vesta's memorial. Thanks

George is my 6th gr-grand uncle and his parents are my 7th gr-grandparents. Recently, I came across a Blake family DNA research that will be of interest to you - I've referenced this research and findings on my website which is contrary to a lot of current thinking about Theophilus' origins.
As a relative I invite you to visit my website and to submit any additional info or corrections.

Aaron, back in 1979 my family moved from Washington state to Ohio. The first summer we lived there, my parents took us to West Virginia to see the Blake homestead and cemetery. When I was 12, we moved away from Ohio, and I am now 42. I recently scanned the Polaroids and submitted them to both FindAGrave and FamilySearch.org. When my mom took those pictures, she never imagined how many people could benefit from them down the road.
