|I'm 52 years old. My mother Betty Shirley was a genealogist for 35 years for the Shirley Family. She wrote a book on Silas Shirley of Paris Arkansas in 1977 for my Dad's Family and a book on the Bartholomews in 1978 for her side of the family. She passed away in July 2009 and now I have all her family research. I am trying to get the information out there via the internet to solve some of the family mysteries that before computers seemed impossible to resolve. The family surnames I am interested in are:|
Shirley, Haley, Harville / Harvel/ Harvill, Bynum,
Aydelott / Adelot, Barnard, Lee, Pettigrew all of Logan County, Paris, Arkansas. Norris & Shirleys from Athens, Ohio and Bedford, Pennsylvania
Bartholomew, Moore, Scott, Pennell, & Walker, Hayden most from McDonough Co., Illinois & Kansas with a few from Missouri.

You are very welcome. Ben
|Daneen Schatzle||Dora Esther Shirley|
I hope you're doing well. I found you as I was looking at my great-great-great grandfather Hiram Shirley's memorial in Find a Grave.
I am the great-granddaughter of Lewis Dyer Schatzle and May (Mary, Mamie, Mae Evelyn Rowley). Mae is the daughter of Dora Esther Shirley and Herbert Andrew or Andrew Herbert Rowley. Dora Esther Shirley is my great-great grandmother and her parents were Esther Carter and Hiram Shirley.
I am not certain what my relation might be to you, but I am thrilled to speak to you via internet and to hear that your family has done so much genealogical research on the Shirley side.
I am also glad to share what I know about Mae Evelyn (Rowley) Schatzle and her children.
|Donna Daniels||R. P. Barnard|
I am the great granddaughter of Maggie, R.P.'s 2nd wife. Her full name was Sallie Ann Powell Jones.
I don't know why she went by Maggie. I remember visiting Grandma and Grandpa Barnard when I was a little girl. Some very good memories. Thanks for sharing your information. I have often wondered where he was buried.

Are we Shirley cousins yet?

I have spent some time studying the children of Delilah (Phillips) Shirley Walker. I wanted to
see if there was any known connection with my 3X great grand father William Shirley buried in
Powers Cemetery. Sure is.
1. Martha A. Walker born Jan 2 1797 married James Myers. James Myers’s brother, Zaccariah, married Nancy Shirley, my aunt and Deliah's grand daughter
and first child of my 3X great grandfather William Shirley
2. Another brother of James Myers, William, married Elizabeth Froman, my aunt, who is sister
to 3X great grand mother Nancy (Froman) Shirley (wife of my 3X great grandfather William Shirley.
3. Eunice Walker born 1802 married Abisha Dodson. Their baby boy, Abisha married Martha Louisa Smith, my aunt. Deliah's grandson is Abisha Walker. The new bride is William Isaac Shirley’s sister-in-law (Delilah’s grand son’s is William Isaac Shirley). Crazy!
4. Comfort Walker married Charles Springer and I do not have that connection figured out yet. But
likely another Walker connection to the Shirley Tribe here in Missouri
I cannot tell you how excited I am about the discovery of Deliah (Phillips) Shirley Walker and her baby boy, William Shirley. What a mother's day gift!!!
William Shirley is my 3X great grand father. He came to Carroll County, Missouri and promptly died. Leaving no clue to his parentage.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You for all that you have done to piece this Shirley puzzle together.
Now, to figure out Delilah’s first husband, Unknown Shirley, and his parents.
Please answer the following question: could Robert Walker's first wife, Comfort, been native Indian?

P.S. I did email RNHAYNES.

Thank you for linking Leonard Lawson Shirley with his mother, Nancy.
Keep it up, girl.

P.S. Still hoping to hear from descendants of Deliliah Phillips Shirley.
|Rebecca Reynolds||Birth Location of George FM Shirley|
Hello Delaine, according to the census records (1860,1870 etc) George Francis Marion Shirley (my 2nd great-grandfather) is indicated as being born in South Carolina, I know the Shirley genealogy states he was born in Rome Georgia is it possible that his birth location was confused when George D moved the family to Georgia? Just your thoughts...or if you have some definite documentation (birth record etc) I would greatly appreciate having clarity on this.
Thank you... Rebecca Reynolds, Wooten Brown connection.

You requested a headstone picture for James M Traughber, I believe the memorial is a duplicate with memorial #95608752

I'm a descendant of Delilia and William. I've tried to find the connection for Delilia's first husband, but have not been successful. Keep in touch if you find anything.
