Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started researching my families a few years ago. Some old family pictures and my great-grandfather Jones' family Bible got me curious enough to start looking and asking questions about my family. Several years later I am still looking and asking. My primary family names of interest are Jones, Smithson, Cripps, Hathaway, Moser, Wood, Owen, & Elledge all at some time living in the Middle Tennessee area in Dekalb, Wilson, Cannon and Warren Counties. Find A Grave has become a great source for genealogy to me. I have made many new friends here and have met a lot of new cousins. I think we have gained a lot from each other in our family searches. I enjoy helping others and I hope the memorials I post somehow does help someone find a friend or relative, I know I have found many. Most of the time I will transfer any memorial as long as they are not in my direct family lines or closely connected to my family. Just ask and tell me how you are connected. The same applies to pictures. I find my pictures posted all over the internet, some make reference to the originator and some don't. I don't mind anyone using my pictures for personal use but it would be considerate to mention the person that made the effort to get out and make them. Although I am not a registered photo volunteer, I would be happy to try and locate and photograph headstones for anyone, just ask.

A.J. Smithson Death
Thank you Mike for putting on the newspaper for A.J. Smithson's death. I remember my mother talking about it but never seen anything on it. Leatha
Smithson Orrick was my grandmother.

C Talton Rains
Do you know any relatives of C Talton Rains?
His ancestor John Rains' cemetery was destroyed by a greedy auto shop next door who falsified statements to the judge. They said the cemetery was abandoned with no visitors over the previous year, despite the fact that descendants along with the Davidson County Cemetery Survey Commission and Nashville Historical Society hired an archaeologist who restored the cemetery and was there daily for months preceeding when the auto shop filed the court papers. No prayer service was performed when they were reburied, and headstones that had just been restored were carelessly broken in the move. The family didn't know until we tried to visit it and it was a newly paved parking lot. John Rains was the son of one of the original Nashville Tennessee settlers Captain John Rains.
We need as many descendants as possible to count when filing a complaint against the auto shop for not notifying the family of the court petition or date as well as lying to the judge. Descendants don't have to be formally included on the lawsuit, but I do need their name to pass along to the lawyer who contacted us who volunteered to file the complaint (we need their names so we don't count them twice in our number). We just need names of descendants of John Rains who agree that the cemetery shouldn't have been dug up and destroyed without notifying the family. This doesn't typically happen and it needs to be brought to the court's attention so it won't happen to other small family cemeteries. The bigger the numbers, the better result to get the judge's attention that this decision hastily made based on lies was a poor choice. I can give the lawyer's email address to anyone who would prefer to contact him directly. I don't think the judge is going to be too happy when he finds out he was lied to and tricked. Thank you for your consideration!

RE: George Ellus Vickers
Wish there was a way to tell for sure. Perhaps other family members were buried in one of the cemeteries later and the stone was added for him then. Dates do vary. Both have the spelling Ellus though in the book. And both have birth and death dates, which is unusual when there are two markers

Yes, I would say to leave it, but perhaps you can note in the bio that there seems to be two stones and name the cemeteries.

Sorry to bother you with this.
