Started doing my local cemetery and after finding several Civil War vets I thought it would be interesting to look for Revolution and Civil War burials in Dearborn Co. Indiana. That in turn has turned into finding pioneer and forgotten burial grounds in my area also. Will transfer most memorials unless they are my ancestors. Corrections are appreciated, nasty grams are not.|
If anyone knows of a Civil War burial, [or Revolutionary War] vet in Dearborn County IN. that I have missed please let me know.
If you want to use photos I have taken ok, just give me credit.
We are the chosen. In each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe.

Thank you, Justin, for transferring my 4th great grandfather's memorial to me. It will be a pleasure to add biographical information and make family connections. We are so grateful to you for initially creating his memorial.

I'm the one that submitted the photo request for the marker of Rachel Jackson (1808 - 1850)
There's a lengthy engraving on the stone. In the photo much of this is fairly illegible due mostly to the weathering & age of the stone, but also some what to the angle of the photo. The words appear to get smaller further down the stone. Which may be how it actually is, perhaps not just the angle.
Anyway I requested a new photo in hopes of a better one or possibly a transcription.
It would be easier to make out the words on the on the actual stone. Unfortunately it's over 725 miles from where I am.
If you could help at all that would be amazing!

I'm trying to confirm if this is the same Jesse Smith that was the husband of Nancy Wright, married in March 1862 in Marion County, Indiana. If so, then he is my 2nd great grandfather. The death date for this Jesse is in the correct date range. Could you share with me whether this is the same Jesse Smith? Thank you so much in advance for any information.

Hi Justin. Visited the cemetery today and did a little cleaning of the brush. There were three markers I found that we did not have a photo. One was Timothy Davis. If you want to go up there, I cleaned a path to go straight up the hill. As you go up the hill after the S corner, about 30 feet past the 5 concrete barriers, walk straight up and slightly to the left.

I have ancestors that are buried in the same cemetery. I don't have any info for Ira Tinker. He was listed in the cemetery records for the cemetery. I posted him because I thought everyone should have a memorial.

Thank you for your reply. Also thank you for the memorial you created for Tavner Cheek in Dearborn County. In addition to his being the brother of Nicholas Cheek (as you mentioned), he is also the brother of Nancy Cheek Green, my 4x-great grandmother.

I see that you have photographed the entrance to Blasdel Cemetery. Do you know anything about an old cemetery, the Woolery Family Cemetery, that is also in Washington Township, Ripley County? It has just a few graves and was located on a farm owned by a Clyde Woolery. I have ancestors buried there and would like to create memorials for them, but I have no idea of its location.
