I was introduced to Find a Grave about 2000 by a cousin. Together we tried to add as many members of our family as we possibly could. It wasn't long before my cousin became the subject of his own memorial page. Eventually, I realized that there was more I could do than just search for my own family. So, I began trying to add photos whenever I could. Recently I became involved in a cemetery project in my area. A friend and I began searching through the hills, bushes and briers for long abandoned cemeteries, adding what we find to Find a Grave. |
Find a Grave is a great site for people who are researching their family. We have made it our goal to do whatever we can to make it the very best it can be.

It is good to get to know you. Joseph Green 1767-1814 is buried in Scott County, Kentucky but it is on a private grave yard other than Green and I apologize I don't have that information at my present location but I will be happy to get it for you.
I have most of our Green Family - Names, Dates and Places from the very early 1700's in this country and would be happy to share them with you. I do remember your VanArsdall/Green relationship. My 3 times Great-Grandfather William Green and wife Judy McKinney as well as 2 times Great-Grandfather Charles Green and wife Sarah Cole are all buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County; as I am certain that you are familiar. My Great Grandfather was Joshua Green their 3rd Son - i.e. William A., Benjamin F. and then Joshua B. Green.
Probably for due to Charles's involvement with "The Mexican War" - both Benjamin F. and Joshua B. Green were raised by William's brother John Green and his wife (as I recall) Mary Cruzan in Tippecanoe Township, Marshall County, Indiana.
Benjamin Green died at a younger adult age.
My Great-Grandfather Joshua Green married Barbara Knode in Franklin, Indiana. Several of their sons were born there and Indianapolis. They then lived in Kansas City, Mo. and Nashua, Iowa where they and most of their children are buried.
Jospeph, my 4 times Great-Grandfather was born in 1767 in Old Augusta/Rockingham County, Virginia and died young in 1814 Scott County, Kentucky married Amelia Matthews in Rockingham County, Virginia who is buried in Crawfordsville, Indiana. They of course are William's (1798-1876)
When Joseph died as the age of 47-49 in Scott County, Kentucky; He and Amelia had a sizeable family. Amelia moved them to Mercer County, Kentucky prior to Charles and then his father William and Mother Judy McKinney Green moved to Hensley Township, Johnson County, Indiana in 1834.
I will be happy to share the 3 previous Generations prior to Joseph Matthews Green if you are interested but would prefer you to correspond directly thru my personal email: email@example.com as well as share with you my personal phone, etc.
I hope what I have shared with you here clarifies at least somewhat who I am in relationship!

how goes the work on the Scott County Cemetery Book? You guys are doing such fantastic work! Its a hot sweaty, full of ticks and snake fun! I've done cemetery work in Scott and Owen Co., too and when the little sister of your husband yells BEAR (even when you know there is no such thing) the adrenaline kicks in-even if it turns out to be a stump. LOL

You created this one. It says Perkins Cemetery in Owen County, Ky.
Can you tell me where to find this cemetery?

Donna, I am a Granddaughter of William Fleece Moore, 1834-1862, who was a brother to Mattie Fleece Moore, wife of Musco Thompson Vanarsdale. Never knew anything about this part of my Father's family until years after his passing. Am wondering if you have any information about the children or Grandchildren of Mattie and Musco as to if any are still living ? that I might contact? I do know that William Fleece Moore had a twin brother but have not been able to find anything about him......also have drawn a blank as to where William Fleece Moore died ? Would so greatly appreciate any info you might have to share with me.

A few of quick questions for you. Do you know the origin of the name Mefford Cemetery? Might you be aware of the chain of title from today's owner backward?
Also out of curiosity in the photo you took of David's headstone the top portion appears to be stained a reddish hue while the bottom is gray. Do you know why? Thanks for all you do to preserve our history.

Thank you for your help. I guess we are lucky to at least have her husband David F. Mefford.

Is there any chance there was a tombstone picture
of Mary Samuels Mefford wife of David (F. or T.) Mefford in Mefford Family Cemetery, Biddle, Scott Co. KY.? Most likely buried next to him.
