West Norwood Cemetery (WNC) is over 40 acres and some parts are covered in brambles and completely inaccessible. Ivy covered monuments can be seen sticking up through the undergrowth here and there.|
Lambeth Council has an online database of re-used graves in West Norwood Cemetery. If you find your ancestors on this website, there will be no sign of their grave in the cemetery, and any grave marker on the plot will belong to the new owner.
I strive for accuracy but am not infallible. Corrections and additional information are welcome. Please use the Edit tab on the memorial in question.
For all other matters, I can be contacted by using the 'Edit' tab on this memorial, and then selecting 'Suggest any other correction or addition'.
Please respect the efforts of photo volunteers and do not steal photos. Most people will give permission if asked.
Writing in ALL CAPS equates to shouting, and is harder to read. If the shift key is problematic, all lower case is preferable.
Most questions will be answered by reading the FAQ, aka Help With Findagrave. Further clarification can be obtained by asking questions in the Findagrave Forums.

|Dogwalker 41||RE: Edits for George Kied (Keed) and Martha Underwood Keid|
Back in August of 2015 you fulfilled photo requests for me for George Kied and Martha Kied (#146328470 & 146328591). They did not have stones, but you were able to look up the burial locations for both of them. I have tried to find where their daughter, Elizabeth Kied (Kidd), is buried...but have not been successful. I was wondering if you would be able to look up the plot information for me the next time you go to West Norwood Cemetery? I was very thankful to have the information on her parents. I have put a photo request in for Elizabeth Kied (#181928898).
Thank you for your kind consideration.

|Andrea Purvis||Updates +|
Hello, Thank you for doing the recent updates. More to come. I put the transcription for the Hughes Family Monument-it seems a bit large, but was the best I could do with 8 on it. As you manage Elizabeth's memorial could not put it under the picture so would you correct that, please. Shall send the additional info via edits. Thanks again and warm regards. Andrea
Any chance you could share a better resolution photo
We need transcription of all the names and dates?
Thank you in advance

Thank you for your message-have done the edits. Sorry not to get back to you sooner, have been out of town.
I have information for more than 10 people for you. Have made a list with name & memorial# adding the additional info on one sheet that I could send or would you prefer that I go to each memorial?
You obviously have extensive records and are still adding memorials. Do you by any chance have a record for any additional Hursts? I am looking for : Henry Hurst 1827-1908 & wife Jane Hurst 1839-1912; their son Herbert Edward Hurst 1864-1938 and his wife Clara Cecelia Constant who is d/o Arthur Edward Constant & Celia Allen.
It is a great pleasure to work with you. Please let me know how you want me to send the edits. If it would be easier you can contact me directly at
Thank you and I hope to hear from you.

|Gina Sammis||RE: Netherbury|
I'm sorry to be dense, but what is an MI? How would I find out what people are entombed IN the church building? I have inquiries in to Dorset Family History, but have not heard back. Thanks again for your answer. When I was there for just one hour, the church was not open, naturally.
Hello. I noticed that you posted a grave for the graveyard at Church of St. Mary in Netherbury. Do you happen to know if there is a listing of whom is buried in the oldest part of the graveyard or any photos of the grave stones? They are quite old and when I was there a few years ago, I was unable to read them, mostly because I couldn't get in there. It is quite overgrown. I live in the US so cannot get there again soon. Do you know anyone who could help me with this. My Samways ancestors were burried there in the 1600's.
Thank you, Gina Sammis
|Grave Concerns||RE: Stephen Philpott Low #153463114|
Thank you for your message. I am sorry, I didn't realise I had requested the edit twice. My sincere apologies. However, Stephen is now no longer linked as spouse of Hannah Austin Low #153463169, so there is a bit of a hiccup in the system somewhere. Stephen had 3 wives, Emily Austin, Hannah Austin and Susannah Hoare. Thank you for your co-operation, it is much appreciated.

Thank you for acknowledging the edits but you have Stephen married to Hannah Austin (#153463169) twice.

I have just seen your email with the pictures of my great great grandfathers headstone. Thank you so much this means a lot to me as I have been unable to get over to the UK and get to the cemetery. Thank you so much and every success with the Find a Grave initiative. Kind regards Jonothan Brigg
|VB||Family tree search tools in England|
I am researching the Boston family tree.
I am trying to find where an ancestor possibly traveled by ship to the United States back in the 1600s. Would you happen to have any suggestions for ships registries?
