Born and raised in Fresno, California of Alabama born parents, got into Genealogy in 1997 when I could not figure out what else to do with this computer on-line. I have built up quite a lot of pictures of old shots of the cemeteries of Clay County and Jefferson County Alabama. I have visited most of the cemeteries of my ancestors and my Wife's ancestors in Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas. A Self-proclaimed Historian with a California Historical society (E Clampus Vitus), I am visiting places of historical interest and with my trusty Dimage , Vivitar and Olympus digital cameras have been taking pictures of headstones at whatever cemeteries we may visit and Historical Monuments in our travels in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Washington. In Fresno, I have added the 1919 biographies of early Fresno residents from the Paul E Vandor book titled "The History of Fresno County" to as many listings as I could. If you have something you would like to have added to a Bio, just drop me a line.|
I follow FindaGrave rules and usually transfer close relatives within 30 days. You can complain to the FindaGrave administrators if you want, but you will likely find they too have little patience for impatient people.

|Haines||RE: Letson & Latson|
Thanks for the info on Letson/Latson name.
I will pass it along to those in my family who
still carry the name and think they are just named
after their father or grandfather. Aren't they going to be surprised to find out how long of a history that the name has.
Lovely to talk to you cousin.

|Dwight||Richard Bruce McPherson|
Hey, thank you for creating the memorial (#130785063) for Richard McPherson, the 10-year old boy who lost his life in the Sierras, and for accepting my edits. He and his brother were one set of three sets of brothers - grandsons of the same grandparents (William James DeArmoun & Laura Etta Richmond) with an interesting story.
William & Laura's son William Homer DeArmoun had 2 sons; Donald Edwin and Harold. Donald enlisted in the Navy and was on the USS Arizona when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. His name is among the dead on the memorial.
His younger brother Harold apparently died exactly one year later at Pearl Harbor, according to a couple family trees in ancestry.com, but I don't know how much I trust that. I have not found his name in any Navy rolls, nor can I find any evidence that he died at all.
Anyway, William & Laura's daughter Lelah Mae DeArmoun married Chester Walter McPherson and they had 2 sons; Robert Chester and Richard Bruce. AS the article posted on Richard's memorial states, Robert took his little brother of 10 years and their cousin Howard Ibbotson (13, called Sandy, and son of Lelah's sister, Jessie Mary DeArmoun & Burton Ibbotson), to the headwaters of Rock Creek in the Sierra Natl. Forest in California to go fishing. A snowstorm ensued and they lost their way. Robert & Richard's father was a forest ranger at the Shuteye Peak Station so Robert left his two charges and found his father the next day. His brother wandered off and was lost and died from exposure before they found him 2 days later.
Their cousin, Howard Ibbotson died at Pearl Harbor in the attack by the Japanese.

My Grandfather was Herman Latson Ponder and My 3rd great-grandfather was
Robert Latson McClain (1839-1915) his father was said to be Sethiel J. McClain.
The Latson name continues on in our family to this day as a middle name, but we know very little of this part of the family. Are these people shirt tail relations to your Letson family?

|PGP||Sarah Ellen Pyatt Lovel in OK|
I just found this memorial on F-A-G. She is a sister to my great - grandfather, Joseph Bowen Pyatt. He is one of six children, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. I have much information about most of the descendants of the brothers, but none of the sisters. Are you or your wife descended from this couple? Or is it just a random memorial?

My name is Steven Schmidt, the son of Orlando (Memorial #39966099). He has no middle name, only the initial E. Please correct this.

Could you please make a note on Find A Grave Memorial# 41696881 Clarence Peter Hancock (1878-1956) that there is another memorial page for him @ the page in the subject page under Peter Clarence Hancock?
I have requested that his first wife be linked to your page on Clarence Peter Hancock, but hope this additional information will help prevent confusion.
Thanks for all of your great work.
