I have been recording genealogy and family histories for approximately 40 years. This has always been an interest of mine--since childhood. I live on a piece of the old farm where I was born and my family has owned for generations. Several lines of my ancestors have been in this area of Southeast Georgia for over 200 years. I am a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, both of which I am very proud.|
I have been a member of Find A Grave for much longer than stated above. I was unable to access my old account and had to start anew. I've always enjoyed visiting old cemeteries, as well as old houses.
My husband, Larry, and I have published two pictorial history books: "Treutlen County, Georgia" in 2008 and "Montgomery County, Georgia" in 2010. These books can be purchased online at Arcadia Publishing Co. We enjoyed visiting people in these counties who invited us into their homes and allowed us to scan their precious family photographs.
N O T E:
Anything I post, photos or memorial biographies, may be copied and used for personal use as long as you give me credit, just as I personally do if I can find the source.
I welcome corrections and additions to my posts and will respond to all messages. This site is a wonderful tool, but it is only effective if those who post memorials will strive to place them in the correct cemeteries and will continue to maintain them.

Can I add an obituary to my interment listing?
Please do NOT add newspaper article or obituary scans. The photo section is reserved for headstone/grave photos and possibly a portrait photo of the person, if that photo is owned by you. Do not copy and post photographs from obituary or funeral home websites (unless you personally are the photographer), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records. Obituaries for "famous" individuals are usually written by newspaper staff and can not be posted to Find A Grave as the newspaper company owns that copyright. Please do not include website addresses that may be listed in the obituary as they usually expire within a year after the obituary is printed. [Top]

You are welcomed for the transfer. If your are interested in any additional transfers, please let me know, I will be glad to assist. Thank you for sharing your time and research. GBeverly
This is in reference to my earlier post. The obituary pics are not public domain. They remain the sole property of the family. It is no different than if I post a picture of my father to the newspaper or on this site. You would need my permission to use it. I have asked Find A Grave and they said I am right. They are removing them as fast as I can report them. Thanks Rainy.

I have no Idea what you are referring to.
|Candace Smith||Jesse Thompson|
Thank you for the information on Jesse Thompson. The names of his parents are incorrect on this information though. His father was Starling Thompson and his mother was Margaret R Shriver. Are you related to the Thompsons?

Many people create memorials prior to death, and it doesn't resolve the duplicate problem.

Hi Olivia! I sure come across a whole lot of memorials you have created when I am fulfilling photo request!
There was a photo request by you for Mr Adams and
I reported a problem with the request because he was not located in the section he recorded to be in. Then you sent me a message saying you guess he wasn't buried there then.
A few months later, I found him in a different section so I let you know by replying to your message to me. :)

Olivia, referring to Rainy's message below, I thought once a photo is published in the newspaper or online, it is considered in the public domain and can be used for documentation purposes per the Fair Use Doctrine as long as it is not used for monetary or personal gain. Do you know if I'm correct? Also, I always credit the photo to the source in the caption below photos I post, although public domain images are not subject to copyright in the first place.

Olivia, judging from the unit designation, I'd say he probably served in WWI. But, I could be mistaken.
