in memory of grandma
Hi Vicki,
Yesterday, both David and Floydene informed me just before 6:30pm CT of Melvina's passing. I didn't see it until todoay. I looked without a state indicator as well as for the states of Washington, Arkansas, and Kansas and no memorial came up, so I made one for her. I wanted you to know as you are the only relative of theirs that I know is in findagrave. Here is the memorial I made. I told Floydene, if she has a better pic for her, I would change it. I couldn't find one with all 4 of her children.

RE: Caspar Sherfey
Casper Scherffig and his wife Magdalena HEILMAN Sherfig are my 6th Great-Grandparents. I just returned from visiting their graveside and spending some time gathering additional research on the Scherffig family from the Historical Society of Carroll County, MD.

It was interesting to see that the original headstone for Magdalena is just to the right of the newly placed headstone.

Contrary to the stated date of Casper's death on the newly place headstone (1817), the actual date of Casper's death is between 14 January 1783 (the date of his last will) and 11 October 1783 when the will was probated, as documented at the Frederick County Court House, MD

I also found at the Historical Society the record that Casper sailed from Rotterdam, Holland, arriving at the port of Philadelphia, PA, On Sept 14, 1751, on the ship Duke of Bedford, Captain Jefferson.

Reuben Henry Martin & Henry Andrew Martin
These are my direct ancestors and I am looking for any documentation that shows that Andrew was the middle name of Henry Martin or that Henry was the middle name of Reuben Martin.

The will of Reuben Martin nor the estate lists any middle initial and I cannot find any record that shows him with the name Henry. His REv War file lists him as Reuben Martin.
both Reuben & His father Henry Martin are listed in the book "A Martin Genealogy Tied to the History of Germanna, Virginia. by William A Martin as simply Henry Martin not even an initial there. Reuben is Reuben
Ditto in "Ancestry and Descendants of the Nassau-Siegen Immigrants to Virginia 1714-1750 by B C Holtsclaw. Henry & Reuben
If these are the full names I would like to add the documentation to my files.

Jonathan Cooper
Hello. Just wondering if you are aware there is a duplicate record in Find A Grave for this Jonathan Cooper. It is Memorial #106549907 created by Little Robert (Cowper) on 11 Mar 2013. He has the birth date as 11 Nov 1676 but I believe yours is more accurate at 11 Jan 1676 (which back then was the eleventh month).

RE: Parents of Irvin A Patterson
Thank you for responding. I have found the 1920 census you are referring to. Looks like there were 3 George and Martha Pattersons in Oklahoma in the same time frame, causing the confusion, except the Martha Caroline I'm descended from died in 1907, so she should not be on that 1920 census. If you want the find a grave memorial numbers for George and Martha kid's please let me know. I don't know anything about Irvin.

I think that the name on the marker is Dwain. I will check with his sister to see if he had another marker. Harold
