Bio and Links
Bio Photo Ðévil Ki††¥ Ðésigns™ is a name we chose in honor of our little boy kitty, who was well deserving of the nickname!

The people behind the name are Rob & Mary, a couple of cemetery loving "freaks" living in Salisbury, North Carolina. He is a Florida native. She was raised in Alaska. We started photographing and transcribing cemeteries in 2004, and it's become something of a serious addiction.

We both have an interest in genealogy, photography, (especially cemetery photography) history, historical architecture & graphic arts.

Currently we are trying to photograph and record as many of the cemeteries in our area as we possibly can, though our jobs make finding the time to do so rather challenging these days. We will probably still be photographing graves right up until we are put in our own. We also do volunteer genealogy research in our local area.

If you discover that we have created a memorial page for one of your relatives, please let us know, as we would be happy to transfer the page to you, unless we are also related to the deceased and our relationship is closer then yours. If you are not a relative of the deceased, but would still like a transfer, please explain why you would like the transfer made(a friend of the deceased, classmate, co-worker etc). In such cases we are usually willing to transfer as well, unless the person is in our immediate family.

Photos we have added to Find A Grave may be used for non-commerical purposes only. Adding them to your family tree on such sites as an or to your own personal family history page etc. is fine as long as you give proper credit. In most cases, we maintain larger, higher quality copies of the photos we have uploaded here, and will be happy to email copies of them to family members upon request.

RE: Sorry..
No problem.
Yes, I'm related to Isaac Newton Cain. He was my grandmother's uncle. But more than that. He and Mary Mutch Cain adopted my grandmother (daughter of Etta Jane Cain) after Etta died. They adopted her just before they went to Africa the last time. Then my grandmother stayed with Mary Mutch's mother, Sarah, and when I.N. and M.M. were killed in Africa, she remained with Sarah Mutch, who apparently was a very nurturing figure.
So I feel VERY connected - to the Cains by DNA, and to the Mutches by "adoption".

Now I apologize if this is way more than you are interested in, but not knowing if you also have any Cain connection at all...

So we finally found where Etta Jane Cain died and was buried in an unmarked grave. Morton MN. So I arranged to have a gravestone carved and it will be placed on her grave this summer. Then we (a few of her descendants) are going back there for a memorial gathering.

Thank you!

Find A Grave Memorial# 41474751. New hobby for me as of today...I am now hooked on genealogy and even volunteered to be a contributor. I will be in the Salisbury area for a few days soon and plan to visit my great gran. Her grave looks just as I remember from years ago.

RE: You found my grandmother!
Bless your heart! Thank you! I'm new to all this ancestry stuff. There are lots of connections I'm finding on here. I'm grateful that there are people like you out there who keep those who have gone before us from fading away...
It would be great if I could add some connections to the page for others who might be looking for family as I am.

Pearl & Raymond were my mother's parents, Catherine Ruth Barbee Gray... Also James Lee & Helen Barbee right beside Pearl and Raymond is my aunt & uncle. I have a sister a few rows behind them, Cynthia Arlene Gray. She was killed in a car crash just after her high school graduation on her way to work on the morning of Sept 15th 1983... We were members of what was back then, "Gays Chapel Methodist Church."

Sorry I took off with all that, you probably didn't want to hear my life story... LOL!

Thanks again, it was nice to hear from you...

You found my grandmother!
Hi Kitty,

Thank you for entering my grandmother, Pearl Azale Freeman Barbee (memorial# 66162777) information here. I've recently become interested in my family history and am starting to compose a family tree on One thing I did notice is the date of birth differs on the information posted than what's on the headstone for her. Her DOB was in March I'm sure.

Again, thank you for helping me out with my tree...

Salisbury National Cemeteries
Am notifying as many people as I know that do memorials for the Salisbury National Cemeteries, but the Older Historic and the newer Annex. The VA is currently adding burial spots to the right side of the entrance drive. The entire entrance is now blocked with entrance only through the VA. Consequently, committals are being held at the "Old Historic" cemetery, but all burials are at the Annex. The obits etc will say "Old Historic" but the burials are at the Annex. You should be aware of this when placing
The old Historic cemetery is closed to all but secondary burials of spouses of those already buried there.
I have confirmed this through various sources. Please be aware of then in the future when doing Veteran memorials.
