I am originally from Royal Oak, Oakland County, Michigan, but I presently live in Plain City, Utah. My husband's kin are from Shiawassee, Clinton, Hillsdale, and Genesee Counties in Michigan, and in Vermont. Other lines go back to Ontario, Dutchess County, New York, and Kent, England. |
My father's kin, (McClelland) go back to Wigtownshire, Scotland, and before that, County Londonderry, Ireland. His Collins line is from Limerick and Kerry. Another line is from Newcastle, England, emigrating into Ontario, Canada, before emigrating to Michigan.
My mother is from Clydebank, Scotland, and her lines go back to Donegal, Ireland, and Linlithgow, Falkirk, Perth, and the Isle of Islay in Scotland.
I am very involved in Family History and enjoy photographing and contributing to Find a Grave. I have researched many of the people that I have uploaded, using the links to connect with with others on the Family Tree.
I LOVE to transfer memorials to others that are more closely related than I. Please don't hesitate to ask. I am open to making corrections or additions. If you would like to replace my photo for yours, I am VERY HAPPY to take mine down. I am happy to accommodate in any way.

Thank you for posting the photos of the two stones. I understand the condition of the stones makes it difficult to determine identify Jane McConnell.
I have looked at McConnell's living in Osprey Township about 10 km. from this cemetery. Thomas McConnell appears in 1861 and 1871 censuses with his wife Jane and their children including daughter Jane, who was born ca. 1854. http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1861/jpg/4391551_00536.jpg http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/1871/jpg/4396684_00479.jpg
In the 1881 census, Thomas is a widower and daughter Jane is missing.
A family anecdote related by one of Thomas' grandchildren has Jane the daughter dying at 19 years old.
I think the stones are memorials to two Janes, mother and daughter. Jane the mother/wife of Thomas died sometime before the 1881 census. Perhaps the year on her stone is 1880?

I appreciate your time. The information you have pull a family together that I have never been able to. I have just recently that found that Christina McDougal Campbell matches up with my DNA and found it appears to have the same parents as Alexander but you have the dates of birth and death for my GGF are correct on your site so where ever you got the information that has that Dougal and Mary with four children: Christina, Annabel, Alexander and Dougal I have not found on family search or Ancestry. I found marriage records in Osprey for Annabel, Christina, and Alexander but since you have Alexanders death date in 1926 and he left Collingwood in 1890 I was happy and surprised that you had details that fit.
Thanks again for your time and efforts.

I was hoping you can help me. I think that maybe the subject memorial is my family. I never knew the surname for Dougal McDougall's wife but knew her name was Mary. I descend from Alexander McDougall who was born in Ontario Canada and Married Catherine McQueen in Osprey and had at least 6 girls. They moved to Chippewa Michigan in 1890. And he died in 1926. My DNA matches up with a descendant of Christina McDougall who married a Duncan Campbell. They also have Dougal and Mary McDougall on their marriage certificate. My question has to do with your site. You have known children as Dougall and Alexander. Do you know of any records or can you send me to the source of the info? I think this can help me get pass this brick wall.
Thank you so much,

It looks like you have Abner Balcom 1819-1871 gravestone on Albert W Balcom 1870-1929 page.
At least that is what comes up on my computer.
Hi Barb - I am still hanging in there trying to make Willard complete!
I sure miss your England source on findagrave - he sent me several of my family burial records from the National Burial Index.
Is there any way to access that from the U.S.?
I have hit so many dead ends on my family from Down Hatherley. I would appreciate any connections. Thanks, Shirleen
O.K. Thank you. I went ahead and did updates on your McCracken memorials at Inch to include the year of birth and sent them your way.

I'll take down my memorial once you get a chance to update your memorial. Thanks again.

I've been working on updating Commerce Burying Ground and use Ancestry a lot to verify relationships, which is how I saw your note. I do have an index for,the cemetery and I'll look tomorrow to see if I can find any other Ewings.
