Bio

I was born and raised in the Wheeler Springs Community, Houston County, Texas. I am the grandaughter of Ed Murphy, a descendant of Vol Murphy, who was one of the first settlers in Houston County, also known as Freedom Colony, this location was near the Trinity River not far from Halls Bluff. Anyone with any information you would like to share, I would love to have it
I was raised by Ed Murphy, my grandfather and my grandmother Willie Murphy.
My grandfather Ed, was a great story
teller and spent a lot of time telling me about our History. This is why I became a historian, and genealogist .......

I have been passionate about the history of Wheeler Springs for over 30 years and have done extensive research.... I even located the deed to Wheeler Springs Baptist Church. Dated 1928.......
I give credit to both ,
Ed Murphy and Mrs Wesley Taylor Fobbs for my love of all history. They were Both Members of Wheeler Springs Baptist Church. Ed Murphy was the First Deacon, Organized church in 1928.... I created a family museum at the Wheeler Springs Baptist Church you will find a lot of our ancestors, from the community in there.
A freedom colony, established after the Civil War.

I also obtained a cemetery (Designation) for the Hall Cemetery in 2017,
Where my mother , and grandparents are buried,,,,,,
This Historic Cemetery was established in the 1800's..,..,

( What we have once loved, we can never lose,
All ,that we have loved ,becomes a part of us.

" Those who care nothing about their ancestors will rarely achieve anything worthy of being remembered by their descendants.
( Quote by Marti Lewis)......

I really enjoy the history of Houston County, right now I a volunteer at The Houston County Museum and The Houston County Historical Commission.

FROM THE FAQS:
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations, this would be your great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, or siblings. Bulk surname requests should not be made.

Duplicates are frowned upon. DO NOT make duplicate memorials.

NOTE: PLEASE do not just want them, give the family no matter HOW distant they are the first chance to have editing rights to the memorials that are of their family. Thank you.

I do love Findagrave and have every intention of always maintaining my contributions. If you need to contact me with other questions about memorials please add the topic of Findagrave in the Subject Line. Please add the memorial number on all of your requests. Thank you.
