"A people that takes no pride in the noble achievements of remote ancestors will never achieve anything worthy to be remembered with pride by remote descendents." – Macauley.|
I'm a Homesite Acreage REALTOR in Montgomery County, Texas...working on my Family History when I can...joined F-A-G not long ago and have already had alot of success, I think this is great and would like to applaud all involved!
I am also a Member of the Class of 1979 at St. Frederick CHS (Go WARRIOR'S!) in Monroe, La., and have begun a new project...gathering F-A-G info for all our deceased ALUMNI....and would like to THANK all my fellow WARRIORS for any assistance!!
NO WARRIOR LEFT BEHIND!
...and now I've been vol-recruited by the 75th Ohio Inf (yep, YANKS!), to help get all members of the original CW Regiment located &/or memorialized! This was the unit in which a GGGrand-Uncle, Capt. Thomas J. Wheeler (#22988649) served with until his death in 1863...he died of multiple GSWs inflicted on the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg!
NO WARRIOR LEFT BEHIND!
On 1/19/2011 my father, CMDR Thomas J. Powers passed away suddenly....upon hearing the news I immediately sat and began his Memorial (Find A Grave Memorial# 64427239) which I posted to F/B as I was unable to speak of it on the phone. He was very proud of the work I had been doing on Ancestry & F-A-G, both for the Family...and for the "forgotten" CW Vets! He had just visited "Chancellorsville" the day before his death and purchased 2 books for me there, one was "The Last Days of Thomas J. 'Stonewall' Jackson"! RIP Dad.
NO WARRIOR LEFT BEHIND!

PLEASE JOIN/LIKE my new "FRANK & JESSE JAMES" Page on F/B....THANKS! JVP, TX
SUMMER 2011...Frank & Jesse James CAPTURED!
In my TREE!!! My Dad died suddenly in Jan, leaving a lot of unanswered ???s on his maternal side as his mother had died just after his birth, and her mother died when she was only 4, and her mother, when she was 22....3 generations all died young in Ark, away from the Old Kentucky Home!!? Then a 2nd cousin of Dads found me thru F-A-G, who provided a lot of new info that sent me up several of his "lost" maternal lines and resulted in several surprises such as his GGG-Gpa was GEN Jesse Cole Lindsay (KY Militia)! I was excited with this till I discovered his sister was the Grandmother of FRANK & JESSE JAMES....making me their 2nd (4x's) Cousin!!! Then also there was my GGG-Uncle, COL John Anthony Lindsay (CSA-Ark), #75652636, who served GEN Sterling Price in the 1864 MO Campaign as his Guide!!! I finally found those REBELS in the woodpile I've been in search of all my life...in SPADES!!! Iiiiiiieeeee!!!
My Dad never knew any of this....DA*N!
Last words of a mortally wounded 20yr old Confederate Officer: "No, I am done for. You can do me no good. Save yourselves and tell Pa good-bye and I died right. I did my duty. I died at my post." ~RIP Sir

Pvt. Friel's military record show him participating in the battle at Shiloh, TN in April 1862, where he became ill. Then, transferred to a military hospital in Louisville. His home address was Victoria in Hancock County. He was Irish descent, 5'2" tall and was a coal miner. Respectfully, Dan Truman

Vince: Sorry to inform you but the people whose memorial pages you have place at Cape Girardeau City Cemetery are duplicates because there is no cemetery here by that name. For some reason this cemetery was established on find-a-grave and it doesn't exist. There were 53 names there and I have taken it upon myself to send messages to each of the people who placed a page there.
Your information: Pvt. William Sackman Sr. #67805765 ; Pvt. William Sackman Jr. #67806889
and Corp. Charles Sackmann #67808416
I did find two of these buried and recorded at Old Lorimier Cemetery - William Sr. #106069074 and Charles Sackman #106069207 (it is spelled with only one "n") But i can't find William Jr.
What to do? You can contact the person who put these pages and ask them to transfer them to you? You can just delete your pages? You can change the cemetery on your memorial page and ask the other person to delete theirs. What a mess huh? thanks for your help. (I will try to send edits to make it easier for you though my computer thinks I am a robot and is not cooperating.) Ruth Smith

Hi Vince! From reading your bio it seems we may be distantly related! I wanted to thank you for your addition of my Great-Grandfather Corp Lloyd Clifton Cole to findagrave. I was wondering if you would be willing to transfer his memorial over to me for maintenance and further additions? His wife, my Great-Grandmother, was like a mother to me. She and I were very close until her death. I now visit their graves often and decorate his memorial in honor of his memory and the service he gave to our country. His memorial number is 104005283
Thank you for your consideration,

If you call Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum at 708- 453-0273 and:
1. Ask if your photo request person has a headstone / grave marker.
2. If there is a headstone / grave marker ask for the section, block, lot and grave number.
3. If you send that information to me, Susan (#48964989) I will go there and fulfill your photo request. Of course any other Find A Grave volunteer can also fulfill your request if you then add the headstone location information to your photo request page.

Would you turn over maintenance of Alonzo Vincent's record? He is my great uncle and I am working with his great granddaughters.

I don't believe this Thomas Jeffers is the one in Co.G. See 91318757 Thomas Jeffers in Dawin cemetery. There is a picture of his stone. thanks, Kay

|Denise Bordelon Wood||RE: Larry Bordelon|
Vince, he found out on June 10, 2014 that he had a mass in his liver. He just thought he was in so much pain from falling off a ladder. VA wasn't on top of things. He refused chemo and was doing natural stuff and oxygen ozone therapy. In January this year the tumor was so big it grew into the vena cava. He passed on February 22, 2016. It was all so sad and I am still not believing it all. I miss him terribly. I made a page for him here.
