Re John's wife you are indeed spot on, it should be Mary Elizabeth Harn (my 2nd great aunt). Don't know how I messed that up!!! Will correct accordingly and thanks much for finding and bringing to my attention!

Thanks for pointing out my mistake on her Memorial. Its not good when that happens especially in your own family.

RE: John Saul Watson
Hi Geneva,

My Watson line traces back to John "the old Scotsman" Watson, aka "Cherrystone John". I don't have any definitive connection for him "across the pond," just family legends that he came from Scotland. I *do* have DNA test results that match two other testers who connect back to that same settler, in one case with only him as our common ancestor, and the other, with him and one son in common. That seems to validate our paper trails.

Mind, I did NOT personally do the research leading back that far. My late father, one of his late sisters, their father, and others all did work, rarely noting sources, so what I have is more of a direction for research rather than solid confirmation.

The other interesting result from DNA testing is the appearance of some Fraser men with matching results. One traces his ancestry back through Canada to Scotland. That seems an intriguing clue! I hadn't heard of any connection to Wales on my Watson line.

Has your ex taken a Y-DNA test at FamilyTreeDNA.com? If so, I'd think that our results would match...

Sounds like you two are better off than I. My ex and I have spoken exactly once since signing the divorce papers five years ago. We seem to have different views of reality.

Best regards,

William

Thanks for the response. No worries about the delay. I'm a "long-term dabbler," not obsessed, and had nothing urgent in my message.

I'm sorry to hear about your split. I understand if you have no further interest in the Watson family. I similarly get messages concerning my ex's family.

I've exchanged messages with a couple of other Watson Y-DNA matches. Our combined paper trails show connections only at the earliest generations of Watsons in America. If you are still in contact with your ex, and if he has any interest in communication about Watson genealogy, feel free to put him in touch with me.

In any case, thank you again for your reply.

Very Best regards,

William

Greetings!

I see "virtual flowers" on the memorial for John Saul Watson from this FindAGrave member, with a comment about him being an ancestor of the poster's husband. I'm a descendant, and in touch with a small number of others. We're trying to confirm connections, and a few of us have taken DNA tests and found matches. Can you drop me a line at my email address if you're willing to communicate and perhaps assist us?

Thanks!
