Bio Photo **September 7th, 2016**

My Mom died this morning. Please, leave her a flower if you have a chance. She was my daisy. My heart is broken.

Please note the above photograph. This is why I do not add "unmarked" to my memorials. I have, on a few dozen occasions thus far, come across stones for allegedly unmarked graves. Please do not ask. Thank you.

Burial Unknown designation is meant for cases in which the final disposition will be known within 30 days.

If I post a photo when there is already a photo up, it's because I feel my photo offers something, whether it be more recent condition of the stone or a higher resolution so inscriptions can be better deciphered. I hope that folks will post photos to mine, too. No newer obits (or newer obit pics!), though--against the rules. Please feel free to send them to me, and I will extract pertinent info.

Please, please, please adhere to the site's naming conventions. The pertinent FAQ can be found in the "Help with Find A Grave" link to the left.

Please don't ask me to post an obit, and please do not post photos from obits unless you took them or they're old enough that copyright is no longer an issue (or you are the copyright holder/have obtained permission from said holder). Here is the pertinent language from the Find A Grave FAQ:

"Please do NOT add newspaper article or obituary scans. The photo section is reserved for headstone/grave photos and possibly a portrait photo of the person, if that photo is owned by you. Do not copy and post photographs from obituary or funeral home websites (unless you personally are the photographer), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records.. ."

"Find A Grave does not discourage the legitimate indexing of the deceased through obituaries or other 3rd party accounts. Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. What we ask is that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased. When adding an obituary you should obtain permission from the copyright holder. You should also cite the source and date."

As per the site FAQ, my photos are mine. Please do not move them, repost them to other memorials, etc. without first asking. If you want one of my pictures posted to another memorial, ask me, and I will gladly post it for you. Thank you.

Speaking of photos, if I take a photo, then find that someone has posted a chalked/shaving creamed/powdered shot of that stone, I will post my photo and then request that Find a Grave remove the photo that shows damage/interference with the stone. Every single time.

I did a quick bio on her. There will be more later as I have the time to dig thru all the files.

Thanks!! I haven't seen that book so now I want to! I will most likely try to get her bio up tomorrow.

RE: SImmons in Section K at Rock Creek
These other names have no meaning to me at this time. However, there was land of Catharine's husband sold in NY that referenced an Amos Simmons that we have no idea how or if there was a connection. I will have to investigate further on this. So they are in close proximity to Catharine Dally Salter Simmons?

Catharine Dally Salter Simmons was living at her son's home in DC when she died. Her son removed to Ohio after he left the employ of the government where he died in 1825. This son also had a daughter Catharine that I don't know anything about.

RE: Catharine Simmons MacDaniel
Thank you! I wonder if George MacDaniel's tone is there with them? I suspect the bodies didn't make the move.

Does Catharine Dally Salter Simmons say "Dally" or did you know that? It is correct, by the way.

If I can have the management of those two, I would love it!

Thanks for catching my error. Sometimes fingers just type!

Yes, Rock Creek Cemetery, in Washington DC

who appears to be buried with (or at least same marker) as her mother

Is there anyone else buried with them?

May I have permission to use the picture of their tombstone, with credit to you, in my blog?

Thank you! I just found this evidence for my 5g grandmother! FYI- She died at the home of one of her children, William, in Washington, DC. I would love to have this memorial, so I can write more of her fascinating legacy.

Thank You
Krista, thank you so very much for setting up the memorial for my aunt, Judy Lee Smith Harris. I can't tell you how much that means to me.
