|I have been doing genealogy for about 23 years. My daughter, my sister-in-law, my nephew and myself have been taking pictures at the area cemeteries to help others with their research. Hope it has helped. If there are any errors(which I am sure there are), please feel free to e-mail me the correction and I would be glad to correct them.|
I do not mind my pictures being used for personal use. I do not want them put in books or anything that is sold. Findagrave is a free site for anyone to use and that is why I take pictures and add to this website.

Thank you for all you do on this site. It is amazing. The spellings of many of the Cajun surnames vary according to family, census, court and church records, etc. I primarily use renowned genealogist Steven White's spellings as they are the ones used by the Cajun people back in Acadia. The Sonnier's in the Toomey/Cormier cemetery are my people. Cormier is the correct spelling as is Sonnier. Many people were illiterate and spelled according to how a name sounded rather than what was correct. That is how many Catholic priests recorded the surnames. One has to think outside the box to be successful in SWLA Cajun research.
This was my request and it was due to the correct way to spell the name and not all Sonnier's heeded and understood the correct spelling.
Note: I had a family member ask me to change the spelling on Sonier to Sonnier. He said that is the way the family spelled it.

Memorial # 25938652 & 17200624 are the same Iva Overman (Nee Vincent). Memorial # 17200624 has the correct information. Will link her parents and siblings within the next several days. Thank you for your time.

His brother Elmer and Elmer's second wife Ida Nelson are buried in Big Woods too. Elmer's grave is behind by a big tree near his wife's family. It is took us three visits plus a local helping to find it. They were both my great uncles on my mother's side of the family.
