Thanks for all your dedication to the world of geneaology. I have a question. How did you determine that William Garrett Matthews (1786-1850) of Edgefield County was the father of Josiah? The reason I ask is, the information from the History of Saluda County (that is referenced on William Garrett Matthews' Find A Grave site) mentions he had nine children, and I had all nine accounted for in my Ancestry.com tree, and it did not include Josiah Simpson Matthews.

Yes, she and he are buried together in that Coatesville cemetery.... She was our great aunt and Willard is with her.

If it's a distance for you, please hold off until I hear back from someone in Allendale county. Dr Lafitte was practicing in Bull Pond at the time of his death so he could be buried around there. I am assuming that Bull Pond is not near Denmark.
Many thanks for your willingness to go look.

I am looking for this lady's husband. She is in Denmark cemetery. He died in 1882 and at the time or his death was a practicing physician in Old Barnwell County.
Do you know if the Denmark cemetery is complete? Are there some old unreadable stones that have not been recorded?
Any thoughts, suggestions, etc are welcome.

Thanks for the great photo of his headstone! :-)
|Della Gainey||Olin Woodrow Williams|
The parent and sibling information for Olin Woodrow Williams (48758348)is the wrong Olin Williams. Olin Williams is my grandfather. He is the son of Stonewall Jackson Williams and Docia Mae Wells Williams. He had no middle name and is buried at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia, SC. His wife was Alma Jane Watson Williams and she is also buried there beside him. He is the brother of Arbie, Aunt Doris, Aunt Ola Mae, Uncle David, and Uncle Roy but you have the wrong Olin. His memorial number is 86348174. If you could correct this I would be grateful. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for documenting the cemeteries and graves in Orangeburg County, SC. You have helped me get started on family research of the Martins and Inabinets.

TO anyone reading this who is interested: It takes a village…to preserve our history
Thanks to the efforts of the current pastor, an emergency fund of the Methodist Church; headquartered in Columbia, and efforts of concerned people, we are repairing and stabilizing Rocky Swamp Methodist Church, (located on Hwy 4 between Springfield and Neeses) one of the oldest churches in South Carolina. It was founded in the early 1800s.
But we need your help. We are also raising money for a State Historic Marker to be placed at the site of the church and cemetery and ask that those donations can be sent to the Orangeburg County Historical Society c/o Eric Powell, 1421 Middleton St., Orangeburg, S.C. 29116. Even a $10.00 donation would be welcome! Please write “R.S. Church marker” on the check.
Updated. Thank you!
