|Bio and Links|
I hope to add many of my ancestors' graves to this site. Most from the state of South Carolina. If you have bio info on any of the photos I have posted, I will be glad to add it or transfer if you like. |
Sorry, I don't do chalk or shaving cream on markers. I try my best to get pretty good photographs with help of a mirror or manipulating photo after I take it. I sometimes use the water in spray bottle method. I figure there isn't usually enough water in a cemetery to clean off the stone if you do put something on it and you can't depend on Mother Nature to do it for you.
I try to do as many volunteer photos as I can in my area when requested. If the photo I take is not sufficient (you want chalk ...) please feel free to request again for someone else to take it. I really don't mind.
I also do not enter information directly from my collection of cemetery books (most are copyrighted). Too many mistakes in the books. If I actually see the grave I am less likely to put the information in the wrong cemetery and also have a picture of the grave to confirm information. If you do, please consider sending a donation to the group that provided the information. At lot of hard work goes into documenting the cemeteries.
Please send all corrections and additions thru EDIT from the Memorial page.
I also help with the Aiken Barnwell Genealogical Society. Find us on FACEBOOK.

Thank you. I live just outside Wagener and just realized I was supposed to be looking for Cedar Grove. I feel sheepish! I've actually contributed photos for Rocky Grove. The memorial is from Cedar Grove, and that is the one I can't find.

I'm trying to locate Rocky Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Nothing comes up right on Google maps and there is no map onsite. It is listed as being in Wagener, but I can't for the life of me find it and I live here!
One of the photos you took was for Mem #117552970 if that helps.

Just getting back to my family tree. If you can send this obituary to me, I would greatly appreciate it.
My husband is related to: Hardy, Hutto, & Aultman families. Could you be his kin?
thanks in advance,
|Maria Williams Murrah||Thank you so much! Question also....|
Thank you for the transfer of management of my gggrandparents James and Nancy Hutto.
I have a question, much debate has been given over the years over what grandma Nancy Hutto's Maiden name was. memorial number 31701940 . You created her page with "Mack" listed as her maiden name. I was wondering if you could share with me how that name was found? Are there any documents to support this? I would really appreciate knowing anything about how that name came to be. Over the years, it was said her maiden name was Chavis, then Forte, etc.... I have several family members to meet with soon who may have some insight into her maiden name and may well support the name Mack, however if you know anything about data that supports this...I sure would appreciate your sharing. Thank you so very much. Marie

I am trying to locate a source for the 12 names of the children of William Wilkins. Do you know if the book you referenced on his page has such a source? Thank you, Wayne Foster

Yes I can help with the directions to the Smith cemetey.
From Batesburg take 391. Go to Mt. Ebal Baptist Church. You will pass the church a very short distance and take a left on Highway 134, Huckberry Finn Road. You will go out that road till you get to the first dirt cross road, dirt roads on both sides, which is Holder road on both sides. You are going to take a right. Go down that road till you see the first dirt road on the left. DO NOT TURN LEFT. The road to the cemetery is on the right. This is a little rough road. Make sure to stay to the right when you first get on the road to the cemetery. At the end of the road is the cemetery. You can also see this on Google maps. The cemetery is in a circular shape on the map.
The Hall cemetery is also on the other side of Holder Road. There are a lot of graves there as well.
Hope that this helps you to be able to find the location. There are a lot of Smiths in that area and a lot that came from that area. My great grandfather use to ride the dirt roads to get back in that area.
Let me know if I can help with any thing else.
