Bio Photo Being a Find A Grave photo contributor is the most rewarding & constructive hobby I've ever taken up.. You have my consent to use any of the headstone or plot photos that I've loaded to memorials.. If I've created a memorial for a family member or friend of yours, I'm more than willing to transfer them to you.. I'm not looking to own high numbers of memorials, my intentions as a contributor are to help document the cemeteries and to help family members find their ancestors more easily.. So even if you don't necessarily fit the Find A Grave 'guidelines' for requesting a transfer, don't let that deter you from asking..

I also want to give special mention to my Find A Grave friend, Kris/OSU1988. Kris has been a tremendous help to me by providing me with cemetery records for Williams County. These records have enabled me to add my photos to memorials with confidence and to cross check the photos with placement of the graves and identify those unreadable stones. THANK YOU KRIS!!!

Also, I came across this poem on another contributor's profile and it perfectly conveys my thoughts and feelings as I walk the cemeteries.. so with his permission I've borrowed it from his page and here it is..

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

RE: Hiram Covell Sr. memorial
Dear Sandi - Thanks for transferring the memorials for Hiram Covell Sr and his 3 granddaughters over to me. Please check out the bio I wrote for his memorial. There is a lot of speculation, clearly identified as such. I do believe it builds a good preliminary case for the familial relationships, though I'm not yet ready to interconnect the respective memorials.

RE: Olive May Ansley memorial 94607074
Sandi,
I would appreciate the transfer if you don't mind. If you decide to keep her, that is equally appealing though. I hope to still locate her mom and dad's graves so I can connect them. Her dad seems to have been in the Hillsdale area of Michigan where he appears to have remarried in the last connection I have for him. I know her half-brother, Phillip Sharp, was as well.
Again, thanks for checking the date and for the creation of her memorial in the first place.

John

Olive May Ansley memorial 94607074
Sandi,
First, thank you for creating the memorial for Olive (see subject) Ansley and even more for the photo of the tombstone. As a fellow "graver" the work seems unrewarding and my next question might seem the same.

I have an Olive May Ansley who was born in the Bridgewater township on 23 Jul 1878 and died in the same Bridgewater township on 23 Feb 1880. That would make her age exactly 1 yr and 7 months as shown in your picture. Can I impose on you to make another visit to that Heritage Cemetery and verify whether the date is truly 1860 or a worn 1880 date?

If it is 1880 for the death, then we have her birth date with Charles and (Harriet) "C" Ansley (maiden name of Owens) as the parents. THANK YOU.

Sandi.

She is buried at the St. Thomas Cemetery, which is located across the street from Holy Angels. Check out Canada's GenWeb Cemetery Project.

Hi Sandi,
Parent link processed. Please remove this photo

FYI, I declined birth years for Homer & Ruth because they are a guesstimate. They could well have been born a year earlier. I do not add such dates - either there is a known birthdate or not, but never a best guess.

I also noticed that you managed several memorials at the West Jefferson Cemetary.. but I didn't see any requests for pictures.. so I wanted to let you know that I live just a few miles from there and if you submit the requests, I'd be happy to get the pics for you...
