Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and raised and worked in northern Virginia. I'm a 68 year old Federal Government retiree with 43 years of service. Almost ten years after its inception, I found this site quite by accident when a co-worker asked me to help him at lunch time take a photograph of a headstone that was overgrown with bushes. After that, I was hooked fulfilling photo requests, primarily at nearby Arlington National Cemetery.

Then it occurred to me that this would be a great place (free (thus far)) to document my family tree for all to see, which would be based on the extensive genealogical research that my aunt has been doing for the past 25 to 30 years. This project of linking thousands of memorials is going to take a very long time (if it's at all possible) to complete due to several memorial creators, totally unrelated to my family, who will neither transfer ownership nor respond to SAC edits. That is not to say that all memorial creators are like that. Indeed, most are very gracious and totally responsive, and for that, I whole-heartedly thank them.

If I have a memorial for one of your relatives or even someone else whose memorial you're willing to maintain, I'll gladly transfer ownership upon request.

Here is how you request to have a memorial transferred to you:
1. Find and open the memorial you want to maintain.
2. Click on Edit in upper right corner.
3. Click on "Suggest any other correction or addition."
4. Type "Please transfer this memorial to me (and anything else you want to convey.)"
5. Click box for "I'm not a robot."
6. Click "Send this message."
You will receive a transfer and an e-mail.

I don't understand the reasoning behind many members wanting to hold on to memorials of folks they have no relation to, genetic or otherwise, when there are people willing to maintain them. Findagrave's guidelines are just that, guidelines. The logic behind the beyond-the-two-generation and non-direct-line transfer request guideline from multiple members is specious at best; those requesters would be related and should be able to work out maintenance issues better than the unrelated memorial creator.

Regarding duplicate memorials, it's never my intention to create a duplicate on purpose. If you come across a duplicate I that have made, please submit an SAC on the Edit tab of the memorial page and let me know, and provide the number of the original memorial. Thank you.

You have my permission to use any of my photos, as long as you include attribution. (Please don't ask, just use them.)

RE: Margaret E
Lynnhurst is a huge cemetery. I was going by sections and then by rows within. I have no idea where they are buried.

RE: Gertrude Belle McInturf Van Horn
ok - so this is weird, but as I was photographing other stones, I happen to notice a stone with Van Horn on it in the back ground. I know exactly where it is, so I will try to get another shot of it for you. I will try to post the pic I have now.

RE: Surname Orr
Hi David.
Sorry to say I don't have Alice or Abraham Orr in my tree. My Orrs were from Ohio with some in West Virginia. I haven't done my DNA yet, maybe someday.

RE: Photo of my Mother's grave
David,
I just saw this message, sorry it has taken me so long to get to this but I would welcome any pictures anyone has of my father's or mother's gravesite. Thanks so much.

Do I need to do something to enable others to post pictures to his gravesite page?

Thomas Samuel McInturff
Hi Cous
It has been a while since I spoke to you, hope all is well, we are all fine, just cross the path of Thomas Samuel McInturff, I have a Memory of him in McInturff Cemetery # 3 on our land (farm) in Tennessee (Find A Grave # 156154179)thou I was always told that he was missing at sea that his body was never found, thou I found where there was a Monument at Fort William McKinley, Manila, the Phillippines, so I am guessing that this is what you found (Find A Grave # 56784156). My point is can you or would you combine these two, he not in McInturff Cemetery #3, but he was born just up the road from the cemetery, his mother (Myrtle) and all his sisters I can remember real well, but Tom I never new, I was born in May of 1944 and he died in Oct of 1944. I got his birth date and infro from his sister about 20 years ago. Nan been gone now since 2012, Nan, Ruth and Mytle are burial in Roselawn Cemetery. A sister Venie is buried down the road in Jones Cemetery. If you can straight my mess out then I will delete him from McInturff Cemetery # 3, or we can have both with both Find A Grave number, it up to you, Thanks Barb

Arlington Cemetery
Thank you for taking photos at Arlington. They are so helpful for those of us living outside of Virginia. And your tombstone group photos are beautiful.
