Are you wearing a safety pin?

I am the historian for one of my ancestral families, the descendants of Alexander Wilson and Jane (Armour) Wilson, who immigrated to America from Scotland around 1740. Their descendants established The Wilson Association in 1903, and adopted a Constitution and Bylaws in 1906. The family has met at a family reunion every year since 1903.

Other family names include Linn/Lynn, Mahl, Strassburg, Heuer, Cooke/Cook, Smoyer, Ortt, Dennis, Cole, Newman, Davenport, Seeley, and too many more to list here.

A Note About My Marker Photos:

I intend to provide photos of the markers of deceased individuals, not to invade the privacy of living ones. I obscure any information about living individuals in the photos that I post. I do not try to hide the fact that information has been erased, and the captions state that information was removed. If you would like a copy of any of my photos with the full information for your genealogy or because the person is a family member, please let me know.

You may use my photos without permission. It would be nice to see a credit line on them when I find them on other websites. In many cases I have a higher resolution shot which I can send you if you ask.

Update on Saint Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Newfane, Niagara, NY, USA:

As of 29 Jan 2016, I have finished uploading all of the photos I took in this cemetery during the summer of 2015. There are five Memorials for which I did not find a marker. They are:

Lawrence Budnack,

Francisco "Frank" Dudek,

James Alfred Gratto,

Timothy John Gratto, and

Donna Marie "Wert" (Wertman) Hopkins.

The photos are, as far as I know, up to date as of 23 Aug 2015. Anyone buried in St Charles after that date will not be reflected in my photos.

Update on Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Town of Royalton, Niagara, NY, USA:

As of 18 Apr 2016, I've finished uploading all of the marker photos I took last summer for which I've been able to decipher identifying information. I still have roughly 100 photos of markers that are either fallen on their faces, severely broken, missing, or otherwise illegible. I will continue working to try to identify those markers.

My marker photos were all taken prior to 28 Sep 2015. If you know anyone who has been buried in Mountain Ridge since then, please let me know and I will try to get a marker photo. With a cemetery this size, just looking around isn't going to be the best way to identify new burials.

I am still working on posting additional information and making family links. If you know any of these families, and can help with that task, I would greatly appreciate the assistance. Also, please do not hesitate to request a transfer if any of these folks are your family, or even your friends. I am liberal in responding to transfer requests.

Update on Greenwood Cemetery, Wilson, Niagara, NY, USA:

Because I am working on a database for Greenwood Cemetery as well as on find-a-grave, posting of marker photos has been slow. If you have family members for whom you would like photos, please let me know, and I will give priority to them.

As of 1 Jul 2016, I've decided to concentrate on posting marker photos, and then come back and do research. I realized that if I continued doing the research as I went along, some of the photos might be two years old before they're up!

I really appreciate all of the information find-a-grave folks have provided on people in Greenwood. It is enormously helpful to have input from the family.

I firmly believe that memorials should be managed by someone who knows the folks. If you would like to manage any of my memorials, please feel free to ask. The worst that can happen is that I'll say no because the person is my close relative or I'm managing the memorial for someone who has asked me to. The best is that folks will get to "go home" to family or friends. Doing research on these folks is my way of helping them find their way home.

RE: Edit for Linda Barber
Hello Kathy
First I would like to thank you for all the time and effort you are putting in on your project, I can only imaging the time it takes. Secondly I don't know of any other Barber's in this cemetery. I am trying to link my family together on Find a Grave. I started out searching for help, then volunteering to take pictures and not putting my family together. I am like you; it is not the numbers,it is to make sure there is a memorial and picture of a headstone. It is not necessary for me to manage Linda's memorial but I would not turn it down
Thank you for all you do.

RE: Arnold Parli Photo
I actually figured there was no stone, but wanted to see if I could find any others with the grass flat. Those stones are real hard to get a clear reading, the writing just doesn't show up and looking toward the south is even worse. So was happy it showed up. :)

RE: Bridgen family at Mountain Ridge
Looks fine! I'll be adding more soon. Found that William was in the 1851 Canada census, but am having trouble finding his future bride and instant family.

Bridgen family at Mountain Ridge
First, thanks for all the work you have done! I research the men of the 17th NYLA from the Civil War, and William is one of them. Having done 2 books, I'm now trying to add my research where possible to findagrave, and fixing as much as possible info at familysearch.
Allen must have died as an infant 8/63, as he was not in the 1860 Census.
Frances "Fanny" was born with last name "Gordon" (1852? to 1877? if she died at 25), as was older brother George (1847?) and older sister Sarah Ann (1849?) - their ages jump around a bit depending on which Census you look at.
William H. Bridgen was born in Canada around 1857, Elizabeth in NY around 1859? Miranda 1857?
Oliver 1859? - 8/64
I'll be making other family connections as time goes on.

RE: Eliza Cook
I cant remember if I answered you or not. I don't remember which Peabody Cook you are referring to as I have 3 in my files.

Peabody Cook b. 4 Aug 1803 Springfield, Otsego, NY was married to Elizabeth Curtis b. 4 Jul 1806 in Springfield.

Peabody Cook b. 1767 Portsmouth, Newport, RI was married to Mary Pickard b. 1772

Peabody Cook b. 8 Mar 1840 Springfield, Otsego, NY was md. to Libbie b. 1842 NY.

At one point, when I would pull up a name, the numbers for the spouse were already there. I would enter the parents numbers and send it, but it would come back as an error message saying the spouse was already entered. So I started taking the spouse numbers out when I sent the parents numbers. Someone else wanted to know why I was deleting spouses and I explained this to them. . . there's a glitch in the program, I think. . .

Hope I've answered your question
