Bio and Links
Bio Photo Greetings from the wet Willamette Valley, Oregon.

Please feel free to request a transfer if you are related to someone whose memorial page I manage. I am happy to transfer management of all except those of my direct ancestors.

Please just let me know if you want me to delete a memorial page that I have created for your family member or close relative. I'll delete it as quickly as possible.

I'll be glad to correct errors, link family members, and add some information - unless I am commanded to do it and deliberately insulted. Thankfully, most contributors that I've dealt with have been nice and some very helpful. I don't understand at least two types of contributors: stingy hoarders and control freaks. The memorial pages have not been made for THEM.

PLEASE NOTE: I NEVER INCLUDE NAMES OF SURVIVING FAMILY MEMBERS. Everyone who posts recent obits should be aware of this: some fraudsters and con artists use recent newspaper obituaries to scam survivors, especially recent widows.

In regard to Find A Grave Friends listed here, most of them have posted photos in memorials that I have created and still manage; some have been generous enough to transfer management of memorials to me; others have been fantastic about editing memorials; and a few are relatives who have assisted me with genealogical research.

Thank You!
Thank you for your quick response! I opened it around 11pm so I'll have to spend some time on digesting it in the morning!

Elizabeth Mary Hammer is also my 3rd great-grandmother and I have been in close contact with my maternal grandmother's granddaughter who also has the same relationship to her!

Below I have pasted some information I received from -- in the DNA section of their site. It is a little synopsis of my direct DNA path (so they say) to Lizzie... reads from the bottom up:

Elizabeth Mary Hammer (1795 - 1888)
3rd great-grandmother
Joshua Davis Nelson (1831 - 1863)
son of Elizabeth Mary Hammer
Newton J. Nelson (1860 - 1935)
son of Joshua Davis Nelson
Ollie "Olive" Nelson (1892 - 1985)
daughter of Newton J. Nelson
Edythe Eleanor Wilson (1922 - 2004)
daughter of Ollie "Olive" Nelson
Pamela Jean Sparks
You are the daughter of Edythe Eleanor Wilson

I can't think why this would be of help to you, just thought it might be of interest.

John Rankin Nelson

Thank you for being a good friend to all of us that you do not know! The volunteers at Find-A-Grave must all be wonderful folks.

I landed on the page of a distant relative named John Rankin Nelson. Under his "Death" information but before his "Family links" (which shows one parent as Elizabeth Nelson) the information below appears...

"Father: William Hogan Nelson I (son of John Nelson and Bathsheba [Hogan] Nelson)
Mother: Mary Elizabeth Hammer"

I haven't seen an entry quite like this and I don't understand exactly what it means. It may, however, have something to do with the memorial note you left which says, "My 2nd great grand uncle and second husband of my 3rd great grandmother
- JKW"

I find ALL genealogy confusing so I work on it for a little while, stay away for quite awhile, then go back to it. Can you clarify this one for me?

Thank you.

I first want to thank you for the transfer. Second, I love your comment on the control freaks that we have all undoubtedly run into on Find A Grave. These Grave Nazis ruin it for all of us who work to make the sites as complete as possible. By refusing to allow obits, death certificates etc., they are working against the entire purpose of Find A Grave. Sheryl

RE: Transfer of Efirds to You
Thank-you so much for transferring them to me. They are my cousins, also, so we are cousins, too. John Emery Efird's Grandfather George Efird's younger brother Jacob John Efird was my GrGrGreatGrandfather. I am sorry that you are in declining health. I hope that everything works out well for you.
Your cousin,
Carolyn Pinkerton

RE: Thomas M. Campbell
The Swans, Hughes, McClains & others are listed on a family picnic bulletin, along with 480 others in 1916. So far I've found only 2 errors, Hunnell & another name that gets, like McClain various spellings. There are a couple of other versions too.
My 4th great grandparents from Greene Co. PA are Major Thomas Hughes spouse Elizabeth Swan. Lucas also is in this group.

RE: Dorothy Mulhall

Thank you so much for the transfer, on the search for her sister Marcella, finding my family would be impossible without folks like you.

Again my thanks,

Hello again,
Thank you for your generosity in transferring:

With your help, I have successfully connected her with parents, four of her seven siblings, her husband and three children.
As I receive more information, I will add it to Our shared memorial.
With sincerest appreciation,

RE: Hayes
No need to be embarrassed unfortunately it is hard to be accurate all the time. Besides who would have thought that the information in the obit would be wrong. If it wasn't for the headstone I would not have caught it either. If there is any information on your memorial that can be added to mine please add it to my edits and I will gladly include it to my memorial. They are not related to me either. I have just picked Trinity Cemetery to completely photograph and record to F.A.G. What an interesting and challenging project it has turned out to be. :)
I just had the same thing happen to me with a unmarked grave in Trinity also. My lady wasn't even buried in this county. And I would have never have caught it except that some one had sent me a bunch of requests to edit information on the family and the dates she had sent just did not match mine.
Thanks for all the work you do with F.A.G. I think it is a very important resource for people who are interested in their family trees and do not have the ability to see the graves in person because of distance or uncertainty as to where they are buried.
Happy hunting!!
