Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am interested in researching JETT/GARRISON families mainly in Iowa/Tennessee/Kentucky/Oklahoma/Missouri/Arkansas/Texas and Virginia and GORVIN/ORGAN/MURPHY families

I WOULD BE HAPPY TO TRANSFER ANY MEMORIAL! Just ask

"Dear Ancestor"

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

RE: Charles Berryhill photo
Thanks for the info' Bobby. In the book, was the photo LABELED as Charles H. Berryhill? I want to be able to provide proof that this was him. Being a researcher, I have to make sure my sources are valid. I am not questioning you, as I hope you understand. Consider me a needy researcher. LOL.

Charles Berryhill photo
Hi there! I was wondering where you obtained the photo of Charles Berryhill that you have posted on his memorial page for Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City, Iowa? I am very interested in the source for this, as I am currently researching him for our local Kalona Historical Village. He was an early landowner of much of the land that eventually became Kalona, Iowa.
I want to be able to cite the source for this photo. Thank you so much for your help with this.

Shofner Cemetery
I've been working on a book about the Shofner Luther Cemeteries. Just thought I'd drop a note that you have a McQuillen but if you look closely at your photo. Its Newton McQuiddy Shofner son of WJ Shofner

Margaret GORVIN
I am originally from Oxford, Iowa. Whenever I get home I try to photograph more stones at the cemetery.

In another search for my own family I did find an obit for a Margaret Gorvin, published in the Oxford Leader in 1920. She was born in Scotland in 1834 but moved to Belfast, Ireland as a child. She married James GORVIN. It says she died in Foster, NE at the home of her daughter Mrs. Margaret Plymesser.

Is this the person you are looking for a gravestone for?
