THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked on a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried for loved ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched by graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay in the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot; Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before on a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin the graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust and generations of folks yet to come will be grateful for your trust.

I totally understand. Some of my family are there too. Luckily, the cemetery people were very nice to us as we had traveled 1200 miles to see some graves. But, this was only a one-time deal, so best to tip-toe around a bit so as to keep them accommodating. Thanks for all that you do. Find a Grave is a great place with great people.

That's so nice. Thanks so much. We visited there about 10 years ago, but I had no idea that Henry Newendorp was buried there. A missed opportunity! Thanks for your trouble. If it works out, nice--if not, not to worry. Also thanks for the add'l marriage information. I didn't know that. Have a nice day.

Thanks so much for getting that photo so fast. And for confirming who her husband was. This is who I was looking for.

Good Morning, macso!
Thank you so much for the headstone photos for my Great-Uncle John Thomas Burton and Great-Aunt Clara (Allison) Burton! I really appreciate that you included both plot and close-up shots of their stones for me!
Enjoy your day!
