"You have to let your body sleep to let your soul live on" - Ozzy|
This is a fun and interesting hobby for me, as well as a great way to perform a meaningful community service to others. Someday I hope to have more free time to devote to it.
In fairness to those who may have closer ties to a memorial, please read the Transfer Guidelines prior to requesting a transfer. I will make exceptions if I am doing photo requests for you. You do not need to "manage" every memorial that is part of your family tree. Remember that this site is for locating burials, not building a tree. There are other websites that are more suitable for that purpose. I will be happy to make any links and corrections. PLEASE use the SAC feature ("Edit" tab). Please do not ask me to do links to any "Burial Unknown". Do your homework, first. FIND A GRAVE ADMINISTRATORS SUPPORT THIS POLICY. Please feel free to add photos where appropriate, as you do not need to manage the memorial to add photos.
Please be kind to Photo Volunteers! We are out there in all kinds of weather in a variety of conditions to find your friend's/relative's graves. We are not after a Pulitzer Prize and sometimes even our best effort may produce a not-so-good photo. If any of my photos are not to your liking, please leave me a message and I will try to get a better one. I will not be offended.
I will no longer makes Edits (other than links and dates) for people who do not have their messages turned on. If I have questions, and have no way to contact you, I will not make the Edits. I do not use e-mail; please don't ask. And PLEASE, if you ask me a question, have the decency to have your messages enabled. How do you expect a response?
NOTE: All photos that I have posted on Find a Grave ARE photos that I have taken myself, or, in the case of a few portrait photos, I received permission to use them and it is so stated in the photo's caption. Photos that I've posted of cemetery gates, signs, statues, buildings, points of interest, mausoleums, etc. that have been added to a cemetery's profile page were ALL taken by me and were submitted to the Admins of this site for posting if they chose to do so. Family photos are all photos that are in my possession, taken by me or immediate family members who are no longer living.
Since March 2013 I have taken over management of approximately 25,000 memorials in Inglewood Park Cemetery from Chris Mills. Please continue to send suggestions for corrections using the "Edit" tab and I will get to them as soon as I can.

|Thomas||RE: Charles Phillips|
Thank you for your time, effort, and photo for Mr. Phillips' memorial. It is most appreciated, in spite of being an unmarked grave. All the best, Tom

Thank you so much for the great pictures of Yvonne Goakes and her parents stones! Now I have her parents dates also for my tree. Too bad Yvonne's husband, Bud Edwin Goakes wasn't there too. I have looked everywhere for a death record for him. You are awesome!
|ksrc||RE: Helen Olsen photo request.|
Yes, that is her husband! Thank you for creating a memorial and adding the photos for him as well. I've linked them. I really appreciate you locating Helen and not only photographing her gravestone but the additional photo to show the location to her husband. ~Fayth

Thanks for looking into this! I appreciate the effort you've apparently put into getting these memorials right. Possibly you could add a note to the memorial along the lines of -
This seems to be James A. Van Dyke, son of Ovid and Mary Van Dyke of Tama County, Iowa. He was married to Lella M. Reed and they had two daughters, Claire and Marguerite. Unable so far to confirm the identity of this burial.

Thanks so much for photographing this headstone.

Amazing... Having just located my Grampa's brother & his wife within the last week. Posting their memorials a few days ago & to top it off with top notch photos... I will step up my photo volunteer work up here in NW Washington... Thank you!
Buses not nice to me on Sunday. Perhaps we can plan something Late September? J
|bob toelle||RE: J.A. Van Dyke|
This seems to be James A. Van Dyke, a physician. He was born in New York in September 1859 and moved to Tama County, Iowa with his parents when he was young. He married Lella M. Reed in Tama County on October 27, 1886, and they had two daughters, Claire and Marguerite. In 1920 and 1930 James and Lella were living in Los Angeles. The California Death Index shows that he died in San Bernardino County on December 9, 1930.
Unfortunately, the death index just gives his initials, so there is not as strong a tie to James as one would like. However, censuses don't show any other Van Dykes in California of that age with those possible initials. Also, we know that James died between 1930 and 1940 since his wife was widowed and living in San Bernardino County in 1940. She died in 1951 and was buried back in Iowa with her parents.
I think it is safe to say that this is James, however I don't know that I'd want to fill in his name and other information at this point ...
When do you plan to hit IPC? I see you have a number of claims. I might be up for a bus trip to see you. James
