Sherlin
Ruth, I have a Perlinah Sherlin b. 1827 who married Theobald Devault Hunsucker. I show her father as John Sherlin. Hope that helps.

Their daughter Martha E Husucker married William Chrisly Hughey. I am trying to figure out the father for William C Hughey born 1847. The only clue I have is a voting list that says he is descended from David Hughey. His obit says his mother was Nelly Hughey (half brother William R Roberts info). Nelly (Eleanor) is not Elizabeth Fox or Eliza Fox. He is not on the 1850 census with them. I have not been able to find him or Nelly in 1850.

Best regards, Sandy

Elizabeth Fox Hughey
Hello, just wanted to pass on that some of your information is incorrect. Elizabeth is the daughter of Allen Fox. Elijah Fox may have been an uncle. She and David Hughey only have one child I can nail down; Ephraim Hughey killed in Mexico during the war. On the 1850 census Ephraim's wife Eliza and children are living with them. It is confusing. This is daugher-in-law and grandchildren, not their children. David Hughey died about 1855, I have his military papers. Thanks. Sandy Hunnicutt

RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 108824127 Sue Sherlin Rutledge
Ruth,

In response to your note about the Sprouse/Sherlin family I do have a
document file that is a Madison Co. NC law suit between T.S. Morrison
and the wife of William Sprouse. Her name was Tempy Sprouse. This law
suit gives the date of death of William Sprouse as Dec 1888 and Morrison
brought the law suit up to claim two head of Oxen that he said was listed
as collateral for a loan from him. It is over 20 pages of different events
and is confusing to decipher and I was a Chief of Police for 30 years. What
I have learned from this law suit appears to list J.J. Sprouse as Tempy's
husband which was incorrect. I researched this J.J. a little and believe he
was John J Sprouse who may have been her son. It also appears that J.J. may
have borrowed money using his mother's property as collateral without her
knowledge. The reason I am even mentioning this document to you is that you
said William Sprouse was wittness in the marriage of George Sprouse to Sue
Sherlin. I think William may have been the father of George and Tempy would
have been his mother. Of course this is speculation and needs your documentation
if you want to proceed researching this William and Tempy. There was a Henry
Sprouse mentioned in the law suit also but only the name.

PS The law suit ended in Tempy's favor and Morrison was forced to pay for
her costs in the case. As for J.J. Sprouse Morrison may have started another
suit to attempt to collect his loss from J.J. but it was not included in this
case. Also I did find a John J Sprouse Find A Grave memorial in McDowell Co. You might
find something further on Find A Grave also.

Thank you
Good evening Ruth;
thanks for the info. did you see page 31? Lumber for the coffin $ 1.50 for Mother and Fathers'coffins. No bill for a monument, tombstones, grave openings etc. There is no probate number,no disbursement page,just some old desk calendar pages torn out and submitted to the court.??? Lawyers nightmare !!!
My Leonard line is 42405193 he is William S. Leonard.
I was the one that sent/faxed Lelia the D.A.R. papers in 2008. If you can contact her, tell her that the direct Case line, the Damon line is now also connected to Benjamin and Eva.Put them up on your tree, Merritt B.CASE is buried in California is that close to you.

We have full power back : )
Good evening Ruth;
Between furnace problems, a severe case of the flu, and Wednesdays' storm that left us with 40% power I'm up and playing catch up.
I have decided to leave Leonard mystery alone
until we can get to the cemetery.
Here is one for your ancestry tree. The newspaper article has them listed of the spelling WYKE .You probably will be the first to put her up.

Mike has sent me copies of Bible records and Lydia A.Ryders' obit from newspaper.

Do you have ancestry international to get Canadian marriage records of these two ? That would be so helpful

Good evening Ruth;
It is because of the JULIAN Calendar that they used back then in some states to record dates. They are off sometimes by 16 months to 3 years.
I have just placed up death entries for ;
Russell Leonard
Lydia A,Leonard
I also have the exact copy of their marriage record if you would like it, let me know.
These should help you out,these death dates are Michigan,state of; page entries taken from the books.
Also , when you get a chance check out Jane nee Leonard Case f.a.g. memorial 98581925. I have been doing much research on her children all the way to L.A.California!
I bid you a good evening
Judy in MI.

Jonathan Ryder
Hi Ruth,

I am a descendant of Jonathan Ryder and his first wife Azubah Gerrish. I had been looking for a death date and location for him for quite some time when I found in on Find A Grave. Are you a descendant of his and if so, do you have any additional information on him?

Regards,
Janet Taylor
