Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been tracing my family tree since 1980 and am currently researching my Affelder and Zugsmith relatives, with a focus on Germany, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York. My Findagrave image is a photo of my father's headstone in Chesterton, Indiana. He was a radio engineer, a telegrapher and ham radio enthusiast. The face on the memorial bears a slight resemblance to him, but the gargoyle figure and pyramid topper are both a whimsy of the talented sculptor who created the monument. When asking for corrections or transfers, please request thru the memorial link. When requesting a transfer, your FAG number would be appreciated. Give me a month or more to comply or reply.

Adah Jaffer
Adah Jaffer and Harold Gordon Jaffer are both buried in Lakeside Memorial Cemetery, Miami, FL.
There is one headstone over both graves. You can find the picture on Harold Gordon Jaffer's memorial page. Both of them are there.

If you have any questions, contact me.

It would have been kind of you to give credit for the photos you posted of Joseph Cerf and Sol and Mamie Arnold Cerf...West View Cemetery, Pittsbg, PA. I own the originals and I love to share, but I, like many others believe in "credit where credit is due".

Cordelia Ayers

I have received your suggested edit for the maiden name of Cordelia Ayers and I always try and research to find documentation before making the change. I have not been able to find any information regarding her maiden name. I am happy to make the change but I was wondering if you have any evidence/documentation for the name.

I have seen Cordelia and her husband in many trees on Ancestry, and they all have these two individuals passing away in Liberty, Adams County, Illinois. This seems strange since this is on the opposite side of the state from where they are buried and where Alvah appears to have written his will (it is filed in Lake County Illinois and indicates they were in Libertyville, which is where they are buried). Libertyville is a suburb of Chicago; Liberty is on the Missouri border. I'm not sure what to make of the conflicting information, but it does make me cautious about making changes! :-)

If you have any additional information, I would be interested in following up on it!

Thank you!!!

RE: Shaarai Shomayim Lancaster, PA
You are very welcomed and I thank you for the transfers. So far, they have not updated the Joseph Simon memorial. I will give it more time.

Shaarai Shomayim Lancaster, PA
Thank you so much for entering Lancaster's colonel leader Joseph Snimon, his daughter Rachel Etting (not Ettine) and wife Rosa Bunn Simon, Memorials 75877368, 75880430 and 75879843. I am in the process of entering the remaining 400 or so burials in the cemetery. I will be editing the above with additional information. I am the self appointed historian of Shaarai Shomayim and its cemetery. Back in 1976 in volume 80 No. 4 of the Journal of the Lancaster County Historical Society, I wrote an article on Lancaster's Colonial Jewish community and in 1979 a history of the Congregation. If you want me to manage your three memorials, I would be honored to do so. The other known burial during that period was Joseph Solomon who died in 1777 and an infant child of Simon's we feel was named Hiam and died either in 1753 or 1759. We just started a year long venture to repair the Simon plot and 18 other graves. David Brener

Hi - I see that you have posted some memorials for PEDDY individuals, including the ones in the subject line for George PEDDY & David Noah PEDDY (thanks for sharing your great research on them, by the way). I am wondering if you might be kin to them or connected in some way? Both men have unmarked graves and are eligible to have monuments provided by the Veterans Administration as a benefit of their service in the CSA. I have everything I need in order to apply for the monuments, except that I need authorization from a family member because I am not related to them myself, that I know of. The VA does not care how distant or indirect the kinship is and does not require documentation of the relationship, merely a letter of statement as to the connection and also authorizing me to act on behalf of the family on this matter with the VA. I have successfully applied for and placed about 30 such monuments locally in the last few years. The VA pays for the manufacture and shipment of the monument, and the Columbus Sexton's office holds it until our volunteers can place it at the grave. You may see a photo of one such marker I applied for and placed at Mem. #116649406 for Francis G. WILKINS. The markers for George & David Noah would also be the upright white-marble style, with the pointed top & the Southern Cross of Honor emblem. If you would be able to authorize, or know of someone who would, I can send by email a letter to print, sign, and mail back to me. I do this as a community service and have marked graves of personne who served in the Indian Wars, Civil War, and World Wars I & II. You may message me back here on FindAGrave or email me at newsompage[at]yahoo[doc]com. Thanks again - John

Bill Stephens
@ Topeka Cemetery
She is buried in section 38 lot 51, but there is no grave marker. I did post a photo of the marker adjacent to hers with an appropriate notation.
