Bio and Links
Bio Photo If I have prepared a memorial for your immediate family member and you would like it transferred to you, please use the Suggest a Correction link located by clicking the Edit tab in the upper right hand corner of each memorial. In your message, please state your relationship to the deceased. I will consider distant family members, friends and totally unrelated people if you have something to contribute which I have not done already.

Also, if you find any errors I have made, please use the Suggest a Correction link. I appreciate people helping me fix my errors. Also please send any additional information you have (including Family Links) and I will add it to the memorial. Find A Grave gives 30 days to make changes, but I try to get it done quicker than that. If you don't hear back from me within 3 weeks, please feel free to ask again.

Thanks to all who flower any of the memorials which I created, but especially my parents.

I love Find A Grave and I especially enjoy adding photos to memorials so that family members can visit their family member's graves at anytime. However, I ask that you respect my efforts. Please, do NOT copy my photos to without giving me credit. Simply indicate Š 2006-2014 J.Sullivan on Find A Grave. I'd appreciate a note letting me know you have copied them. However, do NOT post them to other Find A Grave memorials. Just let me know and I will upload them. If you want to use them for commercial purposes or to create your own web site, that is not allowed under any circumstances. However, it is okay with me for you to post my photos of your friends and families headstones on Facebook as long as you link it back to the Find A Grave memorial. Please note that other members may have different opinions on this and you should honor their wishes. It is illegal to copy a photo without the photographer's consent.

Important admin notices posted in the forums:

Per Mark, the admin:

1. Location of body unknown should be used for recent deaths where the disposition is not currently known. You should however make every effort to locate the final disposition and update it as soon as possible.

2. See part 1. Not everyone in my direct family has been located and thus none of them are linked. I make notes in bios of those who have known locations. Such as "Son of X and Y" or "Also father of X". What I do is look for new listings and ask for updates when a generous member has finally found a missing relative.

3. No duplicates are allowed. Period.

This is Find A Grave and long-term unknown dispositions solely for the purpose of creating family links is outside the main intent of the website.

Per AJ, the admin:

Photograph the grave/gravesite "in-situ", or as it appears in that moment in time. The purpose is to show the grave as it is, be it dirty, cluttered, broken, or pristine. It is not your job to clean it, clear it, fix it, or decorate it. The graves are not yours to do as you please. Remember, one person's "good deed" just might be another person's vandalism. Go take lots of photos...but do it like an anthropologist and do not disturb the grave site.

Note for self, this is a link I might need to know how to make one day:

Here's a link to the article in the Las Cruces newspaper. Decide what you want to do.

You might want to change or add this to your info about child abuse laws. N.M. has change the law since Gov. Robinson changed it from 18 to 30 yrs. This was in the Las Cruces Sun News March 15, 2017:

The original Baby Brianna bill was passed in 2005, following a two-year effort by former Sen. Mary Jane Garcia of Doņa Ana. It was named for Brianna Lopez, a 5-month-old infant whose horrific death at the hands of her parents and caretakers in 2002 shocked the community. At the time of Baby Brianna’s death, the crime of child abuse resulting in death carried a much lower penalty in New Mexico than the killing of an adult.
The bill passed in 2005 made intentional child abuse resulting in the death of a child age 12 or younger a first-degree felony, which carries a life sentence. The bill being considered this year would expand that penalty to include all victims under the age of 18.

RE: Temperance Smith West
Hi I would leave it for now as it makes people think/consider. I'm doing some deep research on this family and if I learn anything new, it can be updated. However, that being said, if Augusta Cemetery is an "all-white" cemetery as many were, it would seem unlikely she would be allowed a burial (?). Alternatively, she could be native American since it was a time (b. 1817) when the American Indians were still a presence in the area and the area just being settled. Lots to think and consider. My two cents. Thanks. Elizabeth.
