If I don't respond to a request for transfer it means I prefer to retain the memorial.

In the event a photo of a headstone is not included, it generally means that the memorial information was taken from a cemetery transcription or death record. One of those who did the transcription was Elizabeth C. Curtis. Without her efforts cemeteries such as Trinity United Methodist and Old Third Central Presbyterian Cemetery records would not be included or available since neither of the above church exists today, including the cemetery and headstones. I found out on January 21, 2010 that internment's of Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery have been moved to Riverview Memorial cemetery in Charleston.

Some of the headstones at the Circular Church were impossible to read, however the church had previously documented many of the graves sites by plot #'s. In those cases where I could not read the headstone I used the information from the church records found at the Charleston library to identify the headstones. I did list the plots #'s on the majority of the memorials.

A special thanks to the work of Clare Jervey published in 1906 with the transcription of St. Michael's. Her transcription allowed me to include much that was unreadable.

Anne Leyden
Mother of John C Fremont
Fremont's mother was Anne Beverley Whiting b.1781, daughter of Thomas Whiting and Elizabeth Seawell of Virginia. Anne was married to John C Pryor of Richmond who was old enough to be her father when she began a scandalous affair with the Frenchman, John Charles Fremon. They left Richmond in July 1811 and moved initially to Williamsburg, later to Savannah, where their son, John Charles Fremont, was born out of wedlock in Jan 1813. Anne and Fremon did later marry but the date is not known. He died in Norfolk in 1818 and Anne died in Aiken, SC in Sept 1847 and was buried in Charleston. See "Fremont: Pathmarker of the West" by Allan Nevins.

RE: William Cockcroft
I called Woodlawn up there and they don't have him. They took my number in case he gets put into the system. I also called Cedar Hill, but he's not there, and he's not on the list of interments at the Old Town Cemetery. There's no number for Big Rock Cemetery. So, I think you're right.

William Rainey Harper
Dear Saratoga, for memorial 88704194 please add the following text to his memorial:

"William Rainey Harper College, established in 1966 in Palatine, Illinois, was named in his honor."

I attended Harper College in the 1980s and I visited Oak Woods cemetery last Tuesday and saw his grave site. Thank you.
