I have been working on my family genealogy since 2006. I am especially grateful to my late cousins Chester George Hawley Jr and Albert Maxwill Muth for their work and inspiration in this area. I also thank the many other cousins for all of the help and contributions to my genealogical efforts. |
I have posted items on Find A Grave hoping that distant cousins might find information that helps them.
Thanks to all of the other members who have shared and taken photos as well as linking many family members together on this site!

Emma married my great grandfather Clement Laird Byes in 1933 after former wife Martha H. Ervin passed in 1932. I had wonderd if you are related to Emma? She is the only grandmother "Byers" I knew as I was born AFTER she was married to grand dad Byers. Lillian was Martha and Clem's only daughter and she was also the maternal mother of my father, Warren George Byers son of Lillian and Harry Jenkins. thank you. 5-24-2017

Wondering if you have any photos of grandma Byers? I know at one time there was some kind of book of te Byers family. I was born in 1938 and dad and our family would travel back and forth from Indiana to Ohio and visit with the only family he ever knew. Dad was brought up by grand dad and grandma Byers. He never knew his biological father Harry Jenkins. I loved visiting with them.. high feather bed, deep claw foot tub, sugar cookies, Franco American Spaghetti, front porch swing, rolling down hill..going through the creosote covered bridge to visit with granny Lillian and granpa Stant and the kids. thanks for sharing with me.. 4-30-3017. I now am 79 and live still in Arizona..

The location of the subject's death is not correct. I have her grand-daughter here with me (Margaret Louise Turner) who has personal knowledge of the facts of her death. She passed away in Anaheim, CA and she was buried in Westminster, CA. This is witnessed by personal knowledge. I'd be happy to help fill in the blanks as best as I can with my Mom. (Margaret is my mother).

Scott, I appreciate the photo you posted of William Barrett's grave. It is very helpful and reduces travel time. William's mother Hannah Barrett (b abt.1782- d abt.1857) in Zanesville, Ohio is another one I am looking for in Muskingum County. I don't know where she is buried but if you ever run into her grave a photo and find a grave listing would be great.
Again thank you your work is appreciated.

I found your connection as well, I should have looked it up before I wrote you, too excited I guess (duh, you are descended through Mary). Boo hoo to any pics, but I'm delighted to to meet up with you anyway. I will look into Capt. Hafford for you, I may be able to make a connection with one of Hansel's children, I'll send out letters this week. Do you know that Hansel's gr father Casville was in the civil war too? I'll have to look up info if you want it. Are you a civil war enthusiast? I am.

Hansel's mother, Ester Irene Sharpe Wood, was the half sister to my gr grandfather, Patrick Asberry Bailey - he adored her. His mother, Mary Jane Marrs Bailey Sharp (Ester added the e to her maiden name) was Ester's mother through her second marriage to Casville Sharp. Casville was previously married to Abigail Gardner (of Spirit Lake Massacre fame - they had three children together). Mary Jane and Casville migrated to NE following their marriage (Ester born there) before pulling up stakes and returning to Trenton, MO. Mary Jane was also connected to the tragedy through a brother and a sister who each married into the Howe family - I expect it was one or both of them that introduced her to Casville. I am on the hunt for family pics of Mary Jane and Casville, Allen Paton Bailey or others should you have them.
