Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a Georgia Tann adoptee who has searched for over 50+ years for my Birth Parents. In August 2011, with the help of Carolyn Whitaker, I found my birth Mother. I have since joined Ancestry and taken a DNA test hoping to find my Birth Father, who at some point in 1946-1947 was in Memphis, Tennessee where I was born. My Mother (Frances Pauline Herring Robinette) died in 1981. I am still searching. My birth name was Herring (Mother's maiden name)no Father listed. My tree on Ancestry is now private as I have many DNA clues to my POSSIBLE birth Father. I believe he may have been a Powell from Mississippi (a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp?). I am interested in Herring as well as Siskie/Siskey; Leahey; Phillips; Rumley; Leach & others. I believe Find A Grave provides a wonderful service to all who have ancestors who should be recognized.

RE: Finding graves
Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for the kind words. You've made my day. It breaks my heart to find lost or neglected graves. If nothing else, I like to record them here on findagrave so they can be remembered and found by their descendants. I sincerely hope you find your father. My wish is that you have as happy a day as I'm now having because of you. Keep up the good work. Backwoodsman

Yes, I saw that...8 or 58.. interesting.. this kind of thing seems to have been common with transcriptions of the census records. I still think it very odd that she had a child that late in life... have found a few like that but not many.. thanks.

are you sure about who her parents were? Susan Riddle Cobb would have been 47 and there would have been about 12 yrs between pregnancies. How can we document this?

Herring Relations and Descendents
Hello Ms. Baker,

My name is James M. Armour and I just wanted to say that I am descended from the Herrings on my mother's side. Daniel Herring was my GGGGrandfather. He had a daughter, as you know, by the name of Luncinda Herring who married William Madison Graham. They were my GGGrandmother and GGGrandfather.
I hope you are able to find what you are looking for as far as your father's name.

Yes you can use the photograph for your family tree. I found the image at a auction house and took a digital picture of it, since it was identified.

Herring
I saw that you are looking for connections to your Herring family. I have a huge group of Herring's in my line. They came from Tennessee in the late 1800's to Bell County, TX. They lived in a place called Tennessee Valley because most of the families there were from Tennessee. There and over the hill near Belton. The Valley is now under the Belton Lake. Lots of them are buried at Resthaven Cemetery at Belton, Bell County, Tx.
Good luck with your search.

With the quick edit feature I have no idea who gave them the parents, but I agree, they could not be his daughters, so I have removed the parents as they were listed. The stones are old and hard to read, but the death year and ages were readable. Birthdates should be accurate.
