Held Friday Afternoon at Christian Church

Funeral services for Joseph Boles, age 85, retired farmer and stock buyer, who died Tuesday night at his home in Martin Place following a critical illness of three weeks, were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Franklin Christian church.

The Rev. L.E. Carter, pastor of the church, was in charge of the services. He was assisted by the Rev. Roscoe Parr of Indianapolis. Music for the funeral was furnished by a quartette composed of Mrs. W.R. Johnson, Mrs. William, Featherngill, Oris Vandivier and Clancy Vandivier.

Casket bearers were L.A. Young, Thomas Blackwell, Elmer Deer, N.L. Boaz, Joseph Simpson, and George Paris. Flower bearers were granddaughters of the deceased. They were Mrs. Mattie Voris, Mrs. Mildred Elder, Mrs. Maxine Boles, Miss Marcella Vandivier, and Miss Leona Vandivier.

A large number of people attended the funeral for the aged man who was one of the best known men of the community . He was a native of this county and was known familiarly by scores of persons as "Uncle Joe" Boles.

Burial was in the Greenlawn cemetery.
