Avid genealogist and repository of family history stuff. I love history and old things, and am especially fascinated by the places around me, and the tales of those who have lived and wandered through the same places I do today. I'm keenly interested in the history of material culture; the history of objects and how they were designed, manufactured, retailed, sold, used, thought about, lost, discarded, kept and treasured. This interest pairs naturally with my wonderment about family history, which originally led me to this site.|
I owe much to the abundance of family info I've obtained over the years, shared by cousins and volunteers all over the world - some still living and some now waiting for us on the other side. I love helping people with their own ancestral exploration journeys. In my spare time, I scan through old newspapers and enter the final resting places of those souls lost to the memory of time from published obits and death notices, hoping that one day they'll be found by their own relatives. This and my headstone photo volunteering are my ways of "paying it forward" for all the help, love, and support that has been shown to me in this work. I used to have a great fear of death, but this project has helped me get over that. I now think of cemeteries as peaceful memorial parks, and enjoy my time there paying respects on behalf of the families, friends, and loved ones who can't make it there themselves.
My initial goal is to enter at least as many records to Find A Grave as number of persons in my family history database (...currently about 16,000). One for each one that I've 'found' on my own journey. I love to research & include women's maiden names, and first names too as they're so often Mrs. Richard So-and-So throughout history.
People live on as long as they're remembered. Speak their names often...
"Do not pity the dead, pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love."
~A Poem for our Ancestors~
Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood and bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you

|MixedStock||Judge Edward D. Kinne|
I uploaded photos for the judge and the three others buried in his plot: two of his three wives, Florence and Winifred, and his son, Samuel Denton Kinne.
|Susan M S||William James Clarke 1944 in Loddon|
Please could you let me know if anyone else is on this gravestone? I assume you have not yet uploaded the photos and I wonder who else may have been in same plot.

I see you have copied her photo from my eBay store and posted it on her memorial. I'm sure your intentions were good, but I am asking you to remove it. I go to considerable expense and effort to buy, research, describe and list identified antique photos on eBay and I really need to recoup some of my cost by selling the photos...and I can never sell them if you give them away on findagrave. After a photo sells, I post it at findagrave so family can find it. That's how I happened to see Christena's photo - I just posted photos of her grandsons. This has become such a huge problem for me that I purchased watermark software and now watermark all my photos - but I don't have time to go back and watermark all my old photos. This one has been in my eBay store since 2009, and I still hope to sell it someday.
Thanks for your understanding.

So, I suspect that these two memorials are the same person,
Find A Grave Memorial# 81801802
Find A Grave Memorial# 154619494
One of them you created/manage. I'm almost positive this is my great-great-great grandmother, Annie Hembrow White Madigan. I'll send this same message to the second creator. I'm not sure if one ought to be deleted, or if there's an absolute way to confirm this... What do you think? I'm a little lost at what to do.

Frances had something that needs to be given to her heirs.

INCREDIBLY nice of you to see this and message me!!
I do have an image of this photo and in better condition without the crease. Albeit not tinted. Please see Find A Grave Memorial# 40352499.
The Cannon City, Rice Co., MN Walrods are definitely related to mine, but I have yet to find the connection.
The name was Wallerath (VOL-rodt) when they arrived in NY in 1710; most who ventured west became Walrods and most in NY evolved into Walrath, Wallrath or similar.
I have had many nice things happen through Findagrave but this was a first on an Ebay pic.
Thank you as always....james

|Bob Whitenight||St. Mary R.C. Cemetery, Beaver Meadows|
Hello. My name is Bob Whitenight. I am a retired fellow looking to make a few extra bucks and take cemetery pictures for $5.00 each. I see you need pictures from the St. Mary R.C. Cemetery in Beaver Meadows, and since I live in Hazleton, I thought I could be of service to you. You do not have to pay up front. I will go to the cemetery and take the pictures and post them on Find-A-Grave. After you see the pictures you can then send me the money. Let me know if you want me to do this. You can reach me at:
