Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have enjoyed wandering through cemetery and graveyards all of my life. Now I can't resist clicking through findagrave whenever I can. In 1977, when I began compiling my family history in earnest, I felt drawn to the gravesite of each relative I studied, so during the 1980s, my husband David and I often spent our vacations traveling from one cemetery to another mainly in the Midwest and Northwest. In the 1990s, I organized volunteers from the Fairfax County Genealogical Society to survey over 350 cemeteries and burial sites in the county and oversaw the publication of Fairfax County, Virginia Gravestones, volumes I-VI.

Now that I have discovered findagrave, I am delighted to have a place where I can share hundreds of photographs we have taken of gravestones and memorials all over the country. My thanks to all the contributors who have built this site and to all those who have helped me since I have become a member.

# 145106975 surname TYNAN/TYSON
I added a note in the bio with the Rambler's take on TYNAN / TYSON for mem. # 145106975 but still prefer the TYNAN reading since TYNAN is documented for that period in that locality in other burials and in census records. I see the Tynans of Andrews Chapel Cem. as esp. relevant because Andrews Chapel was formed in the 1850's as the southern Methodist breakaway church from the earlier Bethel Church (which itself was likely Jeremiah Moore's "Difficult Run Church" of the late 18th C.) so it is logical to find Tynans in both cems. Perhaps you have more info. on the Tysons?

RE: Frances and John Harrison
Thank you for putting up with all the edits! I do conclude that Frances' maiden name is Blincoe, because the Va. marriage cert. shows her parents' names which match her entries in the 1860 & 1870 census'(the father does not appear in either). There are two sources for middle name "Verlindie", her dau.'s delayed birth record (witnessed by elder half-sister Mamie Harrison Taylor) and her dau.'s death record. Her dau. Pauline Frances rests in Mt. Hope Cem. in Loudoun, have submitted edits to the mgr. of her mem., Betty Frain, who knows a thing or two abt. all the Loudoun families.

Thanks for the heads up. Never thought to look at the different direction of names before this. I have deleted mine and added the photo.

James Ronk Sr at Flint Hill Cem.
Thank you for the hints abt. the precise dates. The stone actually does seem to be readable. The cem. records may refer to burial date.

A Elizabeth Hunt grave stone
Judi, thank you for the pictures. They are better than what I had. I couldn't read anything on those pictures. I don't think there was a "born" date ; I can see the 1908 for the death.

If there as a "born" date - could you tell me what it is? Somewhere I have 1817 but it hasn't been proved.

Thanks, again. You are a pearl.

No problem. It's what I was hoping people would do, not just all at once.:)
