Bio and Links
Bio Photo I volunteer at Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls and I enjoy putting up memorials for our residents. I will gladly accept transfers for Oakwood folks, too. I will take good care of them.

I have some limited access to St. Mary's and Sacred Hearts Cemeteries, which are adjacent to Oakwood, although most of their records have been destroyed and the cemeteries are in ill repair.

St. Joseph's, Holy Trinity and Gate of Heaven (Lewiston) are not far away and within my travel range for photo requests. I will only take photo requests that already have grave section/area info because these are HUGE cemeteries. Call the cemetery office, tell them you are from far away and ask they provide you with the info so you can send someone else to get the photo. Most places will do one or two requests for FREE. After more than a couple, however, be prepared to pay some sort of fee.

Riverdale and Accacia Park will NOT process requests for Find A Grave photographers and are particularly unfriendly about it. Call them and get the grave location and put it in your photo request. These cemeteries want to charge photographers if they go in and ask for help. For one or two requests, they MIGHT do it over the phone for YOU. Remember: your family BOUGHT plots there. They work for YOU.

Visit my Virtual Cemetery "Oakwood's River Folks" for folks who have died stunting at The Falls or in The Niagara River and then stop by and say hi to my recently departed best friend, Eilean "Ellie" Lyonhil Donan in the Virtual Cemetery, "Beloved Friends".

Joseph Hageman
Dear scotdeerie: I am interested in this man because he served in the 147th Regiment NYSV for several months. I was aware that he had served in the 76th Regiment but was more than mildly surprised to find Co. I, 28th Regiment on his gravestone. When he served in the 28th he used the name Jacob. There are so many variations of his surname that it is difficult to identify the correct man. From my research I have been able to glean that he served in the 28th Regiment from May 22, 1861 to August 9, 1861; Cos. E and A 76th Regiment from July 28, 1863 to January 1865. He was mustered into the combined 147th Regiment on January 28, 1865. On June 5, 1865 he was transferred to Co. C 91st NYSV. He was finally discharged on June 8, 1865 at Elmira, NY. I have consulted census records, as you undoubtedly have as well, and found his wife, Mary, and two sons. To date I have not found her DOD but since she applied for a widow's pension on September 14, 1893, she definitely survived her husband. Have you by any chance located her grave? It is interesting that his stone should record his short-lived stint in the 28th since he spent so much more time in the 76th. It has been my experience that the stones normally list the final service or the outfit where the majority of service occurred. I would enjoy hearing from you should you be so inclined. I am writing a book on the 147th Regiment which is how I made Joseph/Jacob's acquaintance. Best wishes, Natalie J. Woodall, PhD

Edna M. O'Neill
I have a correction to Edna M. O'Neill, 29 Jul 1915-8 Nov 1992, buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls. She is not the daughter of Lotta Louis (just curious, where did you get Louis?) O'Neill, whose maiden name was name is Barth. Edna was the wife of William Thomas O'Neill, who is correctly listed as Lotta's son. Edna's info is as follows: her full name is Edna Mary McIntyre. Her parents are Malcolm and Eugenia (Karrer) McIntyre. She died in Niagara Falls, but I need to research her a little more and will let you know where she was born.

Would you mind transferring this memorial over to me? This is my mother. I set up the memorial for my dad (John Newman) but did not set one up for my mom since she is still alive. I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.

Frain, Delores & Joseph #117642554 & #117642504
Would you be willing to transfer these two memorials to me? I am a first cousin, once removed to Delores Frain. I have numerous photos of her and one of her husband that I would love to add to their memorials. And am hoping to use the tombstone photo, with your permission, on my Ancestry tree. I am trying to locate living relatives in the Niagara area and the transfer could potentially help with that.
Thanks for your consideration.
