Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been running through grave yards since I was young. My older cousins thought it would be fun to lose me in one at nite that was over 150 yrs old, a church my ex-uncle preached at. Needless to say, I'm still "running through" them, but now it's more like, "surfing online" or "a real walk w/my camera and/or my "other camera" that I 'sometime use' to make phone calls" to take pics of anyone having any of my family names "just in case" they belong.

***If I may ask…if there is already a photo of the headstone on my pages already PLEASE DO NOT PUT UP ANOTHER ONE. They don't change over the years. Thank You.***

~~ I AM NOT IN IT FOR THE NUMBERS!!!! I DO IT BECAUSE "It's FAMILY"!!! ~~ (maybe not mine but someone else's.) *~*~Also, if I have done someone who is your family member I'll transfer them to you. As long as they aren't my family member also. Just ask.~*~*
ps: it's good to meet "distant cousins"!! :) let me know how you figure in our "Tangled Roots & Extended Branches"!

**If is wasn't for any of you I would NEVER have been. THANK YOU***
Still runnin thru, catch me if you can. LOL ;)

***PLEASE DO NOT TAKE the HEADSTONES or ANY PHOTO THAT ARE MINE and put them on the same DOUBLE THAT APPEARS OR ON OTHER SITES!! I KNOW THAT THIS IS BEING DONE, as of OCT 2010*** It really is STEALING & it's shameful that I have read this on others "BIO's" too.****(or at lest be KIND enough to give me credit of some sort)**** Photos posted by me ARE copyrighted. If you take the photo or part of it credit must be given. I see some have been busy claiming them as their own. That's stealing unless other wise noted. And using them for other sites!! READ F.A.G. RULES! 9 MAR 2014

If I have made ANY MISTAKES (which I'm 'sure' I have) PLEASE "BE KIND" & let me know on the "EDIT TAB" & I'll fix it. THANK YOU!! <<<<< Oh FYI, I'm NOT SCREAMING!!! :)

~~~2015 April, due to health problems & frequent hospital visits, it may take me sometime to do the edits. I'm NOT ignoring the request. Which means I need to get to my desktop. I'm on mobile right now & these tiny keys & my eyes aren't the greatest. Thank You for understanding. Bless all.
Mary Fort Gibson
Rachel Fort McMorries (McMorris) was a sister of my husband's grandmother (5th great-grandmother) Mary Fort Gibson, w/o Jacob Gibson Jr. of Fairfield Dist., SC. The will shows that they had a sister Ann md. John Jones and was probably dec'd as she is listed as 1st wife of John Jones.
Jacob Gibson III, son of Mary Fort Gibson and Jacob Gibson Jr. married to a Catherine McGraw, d/o Nathan McGraw and his wife, Phoebe Jones. Phoebe had a brother John Jones, who had a wife, Mary Oates Jones-but perhaps could've had a first wife who died. I know some of these heirs later went to Ms. from my memory but not in same time frame as Jacob Jr. and Mary Fort Gibson.
In the late 1990's my husband and I and another Gibson descendant and her husband spent several days several times in Fairfield Co., SC doing research. The then curator of the museum had told us a story of the landing of a ship from Ireland bound for Cape Fear River, NC with a group of kinsmen coming to settle on Cape Fear River on lands of Sir Arthur Dobbs, who left Dublin in 1751 and became lost at sea, and landed by accident in Charleston. Among those traveling to settle on the lands were a group of Quakers bound to settle in NC and were tenants and farmers, related to Matthew memory. While lost at sea, they were without provisions and drew lots to kill one member of the party and eat that person. They drew several times but did not kill the girl they drew name of twice, because she was "too pretty to eat". I later in time contacted the lady who told us this story and she told me the girl was r/to her way back and her last name was McMorries! So, this is a good story for you. They landed before the poor girl's name got drawn a third time, saving one of the passengers from being the cure to starvation of those on board. Ralph Jones on the ship with the Quakers Samuel Wyly, Timothy Kelly, and the Milhous family (Wyly's wife was a Milhous. On this ship was a Cornelius Malone. Both Richard Nixon (Richard Milhous Nixon) and William Jefferson Clinton are descendants of this Milhous and Malone family who came together on the ship in 1751....and both had terrible histories and impeachment issues, which I find kinda interesting. Cornelius Malone on this ship was an indentured servant of Samuel Wyly-served apprenticeship about 4 years with his wife, Alis and through a Spradley line, descend from Cornelius....
Looking for Vertis Christopher and Janie Rushing Information
My great grandmother was Lucinda Kayla (LuLa or LuLu) Rushing. I am pretty sure that Vertis and Janie Rushing could be my great great grandparents but I am slightly confused on the information listed for their Find a grave sites and not sure if I am on the right track now. There is some confusion on the names for all of their kids and how many kids there are. I had listed that there were 7 daughter and 1 son by the 1900 Census and they are listed as followed.
Rushing V C Head White Male May 1862 38 Married 20 1880 Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Janie Wife White Female Oct 1854 35 Married 20 1880 Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Minnie Daughter White Female Jun 1882 17 Single Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Lula Daughter White Female Jun 1886 13 Single Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Mintie Daughter White Female Mar 1888 12 Single Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Cornelia Daughter White Female Jan 1890 10 Single Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing James Son White Male Jan 1892 8 Single Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Myrie Daughter White Female Jan 1894 6 Single Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Effie Daughter White Female Jul 1896 3 Single Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Bessie Daughter White Female Jan 1899 1 Single Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Wesson, Copiah, Mississippi
Rushing Rushing Father White Male Sep 1814 85 Widowed
And you have the surviving children listed on one page by a newspaper article that Janie Rushing is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Lula Hart, Mrs. Minnie Edwards, Mrs. Myrt Smith, Mrs. Ethel Jackson and also survived by two sons Luther Rushing and Jim Rushing. I am confused about the one that talks about Lula Rushing Hart. as on other listing it is Mrs. Myra Hart not Lula ... as I am thinking that Lula could be actually Lucinda Kayla or Kayla Lucinda that was also called Lula... and the age fits for 1900 Census to be my Lula and to my knowledge she was not a Hart... so could the news article be wrong? Or am I getting things mixed up. Hope this makes some sense to you ... if not please feel free to contact me and I will try to explain further. Hope you are having a nice day and I am hoping to find that you are possibly a cousin :) Thanks for any help you can provide. Marbeth Hill :)
RE: John James Hilton's wives
One of my third cousins married into the Hilton family. In adding to my tree, I found John James Hilton married to Elizabeth on the 1850 Census and also married to Mary D Taylor on the 1850 Census. I am really confused on this. Any solution to this? Would appreciate help. Annie Gunter Chevalier
Re: Martha Rebecca Hilton Jackson
I should have included this disclaimer on my previous message: Since I don't know any of the Hilton family data, I may be referring to a different woman than shown on your page. I posted my previous message based on the dates shown on your page and on her headstone. -- Sheila Epton Helms
Martha Rebecca Hilton Jackson
My great-grandmother was Martha Rebecca Hilton Jackson (05 Nov 1877 - 09 May 1966). She is buried in Sontag, MS, along with several other family members. There is a Find A Grave memorial (#86817089) which includes a photo of her headstone and links to some of the family members. I happened upon your page (#91881497) and thought you may want to merge the information. I am descended from Martha Rebecca Hilton Jackson & Elijah Jackson (#86817137) by way of their daughter Pearlie Mae Jackson (my grandmother, #68830453) and her son Delmar F Epton (my father, #132603241). I don't have any information about the Hilton branch of our family tree but would appreciate any family information that you might share with me and my siblings. -- Sheila Epton Helms
McMorries Descendant
I laughed when I realized that William and Jane McMorries are also my 5g grandparents. I descend as follows:
William & Jane McMorries
John and Nancy Morgan McMorries
Dr. Francis Fielding (Sr). and Harriet Susan McMorries Calmes
Francis Fielding (Jr.) and Martha Jane (Jennie) Bouland
John and Harriet Susan Ward Calmes Richey
John Paul and Mary (Madie) Lee Easterling Richie
John Lee and Martha Pauline Carter Richie (my parents, deceased)
I appreciated all the information on your pages for William & Jane. Much of it I have, but certainly not all of it. I have also found that Jane Donovan may have been a Stewart - i.e. Lady Jane Stewart Donovan, but I've never found corroboration.
Joseph B. McMorries md. Rachel Fort
My husband descends from Rachel's sister, Mary Fort Gibson...I have some documentation of Jesse and a website for you to see, if you would e-mail me.
I was working on Jesse Fort when I came across the
find-a-grave. Did you find Joseph next to
Jesse Fort in census? I am sure you probably have.
