ABOUT READING ILLEGIBLE HEADSTONES

The two best friends you have for reading gravestones are water, and a reflective surface, such as a mirror. I routinely bring a couple of bottles of water in my bag when I visit a cemetery. often the simple act of putting some water on the stone makes some of the etched words easier to read. Iíve even brought out letters and numbers that were completely illegible.

Note: if you have any corrections for anyone, please use the edit button or leave information in leave a message.
Sometimes I ACCIDENTLY erase my emails and can't retrieve the message for corrections. If I don't do corrections within two weeks, that's possible what happened. Just did this about first of June 2014. Please remitted them. Just happened ONCE.

THANK YOU.

RE: Mabel Case Ranney
Mabel & Wilber married sometime between 1910 & 1918, haven't been able to find a record.
Mabel's father Mortimer H Case is on findagrave record Find A Grave Memorial# 73581205 - Glen Cemetery, Paxton, Ford, Illinois;
Haven't been able to find a findagrave for her mother Anne (or Anna or Annie) Lepper Case although her death record (Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths Index, 1916-1947 - FHL Film Number: 1684327) says that she was buried in Paxton, Ford on 8 Feb 1932. She died 6 Feb 1932 in Bloomington, Mclean.
I haven't found any obituaries for any of them.
Not much info for you but every little helps.
Best wishes from Normandy, France
Rena

RE: Mabel Case Ranney
Hi
It is Mabel's mother, Anna Maria Lepper who is in my family tree - third cousin twice removed! I don't know anything about the Ranneys I'm afraid, but I can trace Mabel's mother's line back to 16th century in Sussex, England.
Good luck with your research

RE: Minnie Rhodes Reeves
Thank you for your message. I just discovered it was there this morning. Minnie was married to a man named Amos Rhodes who died before she married John Trumbull. My grandfather had many half-siblings that were Amos' children, even though he was an only child.

RE: Maudie Mattingly Erps Peak
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I haven't done any genealogy research in several years. I have a copy of Maudie Peak Erps obituary and it looks like I found it in the Pekin Daily Times. I'm sure I got a copy from the microfilm that the Pekin Library had on file. I normally document what date I found the obituary but this must have been from very early in my research when I wasn't as good about documenting my sources. I can scan this obituary and e-mail it to you if you'd like.

Mrs. Maudie Mattingly Peak Erps
B: Feb. 9, 1920, Bloomfield, KY
D: Sept. 5, 1979, Pekin Memorial Hospital, Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL
Buried: Sept. 8, 1979, Lakeside Cemetery, Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL

1st marriage: Howard Peak, Jan. 30, 1939 at Lawrenceburg, KY. He preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1961

2nd marriage: Robert Erps, July 6, 1966 in Pekin, IL - he was still surviving at the time of her death.

At the time of her death she was also survived bu one son, Gilman Peak of Pekin and two daughters, Mrs. John (Bonnie) Henderson of San Jose and Mrs. Thomas (Rose) Buchanan of Pekin.

One son, a great-grandchild, a sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

I have Robert Erps obituary as well. He died July 28, 1988, Pekin Convalescent Center, Pekin, IL
Maudie's children were still living at the time of Robert's death.

Hope this helps!

RE: Lindsey Family
Gina,
The book I wrote follows my family line (James Lindsey, b. ca. 1758; James Alfred Lindsey, b. 1793; David Lindsey, b. 1823; David Alfred Lindsey, b. 1870; David Orville Lindsey, b. 1898; David Nicholas Lindsey, b. 1922). There's little mention of William T. Lindsey. However, if you're interested in what I've put together, email me directly at SusanELindsey@TWC.com. Thanks.

RE: Lindsey Family
Gina,

Sorry for the delayed response. I had changed email addresses and failed to update my profile at FindAGrave, so I am just now seeing your message.

Yes, William T. (Thornton) is the great-grandson of James Alfred Lindsey, so we're distant cousins.

McPeak's
Gina, I looked at it all and it looks right to me, I had Roberta V. as Roberta B. but, if she is buried at the same cemetery as her brother, that sounds right be me. Did you call the number at the cemetery to see if her husband is buried there too? I seen that it was listed on the cemetery page. I seen she was buried as McPeak so may be they were divorced and I had her down that she had been married to unknown spouse so may have been divorced 2x. Not sure about that just what I was told. Thank you for Kenneth's wife first name I did not have that either and did not have anything on Lee - William too. that info was all new too me. My father in law went to see Glenn and Kenneth some time in the 90's before Kenneth died. Glenn has living in California too about that time we have a photo with Glenn and my father in law, Melvin on the beach. Not sure if he is gone or not. Thank you, for your help too.
