RE: A second Hooper Martin cemetary
Are you related to the Hoopers or Martins buried in that cemetary?

A second Hooper Martin cemetary
This is in regard to the Hooper/Martin cemetery that Thomas Jefferson Hooper #16763424 is assigned to, along with perhaps some other of his relations. A second cemetery, Hooper/Stewart has been created, representing the same grave plots. Someone has approached me asking what should be done. What are your thoughts?

JoAnn, the epitaph on her stone states that she died in her 55th year. The entry on Findagrave gives a birth date of April 4, 1796. If the birth date is correct, then she would have died in 1851 rather than 1855. From looking carefully at the death date on the stone, it appears to be 1851. Would there be some way for you to verify if the death year is 1851 or 1857?
Sincerest thanks,

Robert Love
Hello JoAnn... I wondered where you found the Gustavus Adolphus part of Col. Robert Love's name. I know that he had a grandson and great grandson that had that name but I have not seen anything to indicate that it was his name. I am always looking for more info so am very interested in your source. I am a decendent of his brother Thomas through his son James Bell Love and his son George Franklin Love who was my great grandfather. Would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I saw where some folks are looking for information on Ephraim Kitchens. I know that there was a Kitchens in western N. Carolina...perhaps the ancestor...Zachary Kitchens, what was a Rev. War soldier. Zachary is buried in Henry Co., GA at Sardis Baptist Church. With my Kitchens family, I am up against a "brick wall". Also associated with Zachary, as per the AL verbal history, are Benjamin & John (bro., buried in Monroe Co., MISS., & m. widow Susan Lannister/Land;her husband was killed by the Tories. John came to GA for a while. Benjamin Kitchen/(s)/KITCHINGS/Catching (different spellings in family trees & "official" archival documents.) IF anyone you know has any info. re: KITCHENS family, I would be very grateful. Thanks, Judy H.

P.S. Benjamin worked his way up to high Rev. War ranks, even Major, I believe (been a little while since reading his archival records; has REV. WAR Serial/Service number, as do Zachary. & John. Zachary left several families "along the way," but do not know circumstances surrounding them.

William Wiggins #21080155
I enjoy reading the old newspapers at the Library of Congress website. Today, I ran across a small article about the tragic passing of William Wiggins in the French Broad Hustler (Hendersonville, NC) of 12/14/1916. It would appear the article has his age incorrectly listed as 16. I thought you might like to see the article.

RE: Frank Charles Welch
Thanks JoAnn! I found that same name after I messaged you. That is likely Frank's father. Not much info on either one of them other than John B. being a child of Dr. Robert Vance Welch. Please let me know if you find anything else on Frank Charles Welch. He is likely my biological great-grandfather. Thanks again!

Frank Charles Welch
Looking to find more info on Frank Charles Welch. Apparently he was the biological father of my grandfather John Henry Smiley, Sr., who ended up taking his mother Cora's family name, since my grandad was the result of an affair with Frank. I found his obituary online in the Waynesville Mountaineer archives. He died in California where he lived the last 20 years of his life and his body was shipped back for burial in Waynesville. It states that he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Welch and the grandson of the well known Dr. Robert Vance Welch. However, I cannot find any record of a child named John listed for Robert Vance. He had a sibling named John, but not a son that I could find. My aunt thinks that Frank was the brother of the Sherriff in Waynesville at the time, but can't remember his name. No children were listed for Frank in his obit, only nieces and nephews. My aunt believes that he had at least one other illegitimate child that he took with him to California. He tried to take my grandfather with him as well, but he chose to stay in Waynesville, thankfully, or the Smiley family originating from the family patriarch, John Henry Smiley, wouldn't exist. Any help would be appreciated. A recent DNA test reveals Welch kinship, so the story of my grandfathers biological father being a Welch seems to be accurate. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.
