I am a wife and mother of 4. I have always loved cemeteries and found them to be peaceful, calm places of interesting history. I am happy to be a new Find A Grave contributor and I hope that the memorials I add will be of help to someone doing family research. I am particularly moved by children's graves from long ago, that may no longer be visited or otherwise be completely forgotten. They deserve to be remembered and I consider it a privilege and honor to add them to the Find A Grave database. I also love researching my family history; I have connections with the following names in Kentucky, Virginia and Pennsylvania: Polk, Griffith, Wingate, Durham, Moore, Fetzer, Tryon, Buttrey (Buttry, Buttery), Muncey (Muncy), and West.|

Hello -- I saw your note on memorial for Noah Tryon. I'm not descended from this Tryon line but have been researching Tryons broadly in a Tryon One Name Study. Most of my current work is on wikitree.com. Would love if you had pictures to share for this line.

Dear Becky, Indeed it would appear we are distant cousins. I through Jetson Moore the brother of your James Franklin Moore and delighted to make connection with you.
I would make the link of Martha Susan Moore-Wingate to her father James Franklin Moore but it will have to be you since you make her memorial. Just go to edits and choose family links and you should then be able to enter her father and memorial number.
James Franklin Moore
See if this works.

do you know where this cemetary is in jackson co KY? and are the butterys buried there related to the collinsworth's?
|Fronia||Noah Tryon photo|
Aunt Mary's mother was a Tryon, granddaughter of Noah Tryon and Mary Ann Cooley. The photo I posted was identified by the granddaughter of Noah as being of him. I will pull out the photos and see what I can find out about this being one of the other Noahs.

Hi Becky, are you positive that your Samuel Buttrey (19196187) in the Martin Cem. is the son of George & Eliza and not the son of Robert & Evalyn?
I ask this because there are two Samuel Buttreys born in 1885 Clay County:
(1) to George & Eliza Buttery
(2) to Robert & Evalyn Benge Buttry.
According to my research:
George & Eliza's son is listed on the 1900 Clay census as being born in Dec 1885
Robert & Eva's son is listed on the 1900 Clay census as being born in Aug 1885
WWI Draft Registration lists a Sam Buttry as being born 16 Aug 1885 and next of kin being Laura Buttry (should be Robt & Eva's son)
WWI Draft Registration lists Samuel Buttery as being born 17 Dec 1885 (should be Geo & Eliza's son)
Social Security Death Index & the Ky Death Index lists a Samuel Buttery born 17 Dec 1885 and dying 2 Dec 1967 Clay Co (should be Geo & Eliza's son)
KY Death Index lists a Samuel Buttrey age 79, dying 16 May 1965 Laurel Co (he would have been 80 in Aug 1965 - should be Robt & Eva's son)
Find A Grave lists
Samuel L. Buttrey 1886 - 16 May 1965 - 1919618 buried with wife Laura Muncy -
Should be Robt & Eva's son
Sam Buttrey 1885 - 1967 - 146233222 buried with wife Mary Elizabeth Estridge -
Should be Geo & Eliza's son
Since you've listed Samuel (1886-1965) as the son of George & Eliza I've been confused that I'm missing something in my research. That's why I am questioning you about his parents. Please help me get these two Sam's straight.

Thanks for responding! Yes, Buttry has been spelled many ways. Wish I knew which was correct. My 3rd -gr0grandfather's grave stone has Buttry but 3 of his sons (all died during Civil War) have military markers with Buttrey. f you give me your grandmother and any other Buttry relatives, I will try to find a connection.

Hi, Where do you fit into the Buttry family? My Buttry family dates to 1750's in NC and maybe MD and VA before that. Some did move from NC to TN and maybe KY about 1800.

Hello Becky, I am sending you this message regarding the above memorial number. The daughter of William Jasper Muncy is Martha J Muncy - Deaton memorial 45267036 and I am hoping you can add this to William's memorial. Thank You Annette
I am preparing a book on Henry Crist, and including information on his descendants, as well as the descendants of his siblings. Minerva Cochran, wife of James Madison Polk, was granddaughter of Jacob Crist, brother of Henry.
Would REALLY like to hear from you.

Over the past three years a group of Volunteers from Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 594, have been making Memorial Frames for each of the 79 men with Connections to our 5 County area. We are trying to locate family or friends of our Fallen Veteran's listed on our local wall. We are doing bio's with a picture to be put on display at the Naples Military Museum at the Naples Airport.
We are looking for any history you may be able to provide and a picture to honor our falling Veterans.
On November 9, 2014, we are having a dedication this year, at the Military Museum, at the Naples Airport. We are having various news media from our area to honor our fallen men.
