*Please read regarding transfers!: Happy to do transfers but PLEASE request through a request to transfer. You will get them much more quickly than through mail. If you want info added (obits/DOB/name change, etc.) Send this through the edit tabs as well. Thanks!* I will no longer be adding genealogical information or linking people, so please request a transfer. I've been receiving and getting grief over incorrect information.

I have always been intrigued with the rich history found in cemeteries. My mom always took me (since I was a very small child) with her to put flowers on family members' graves and I suppose that started my love of cemeteries. I am a licensed funeral director/embalmer in MO and IL. I have personally photographed all of the markers at Oak Hill in Kirkwood and am now re-walking each garden to catch any that may have been missed or covered as well. I am using an interment spread sheet that I made for each garden made from the interment books. I have rewalked all of the gardens except New Babyland and the Mausoleum. I did find some markers I missed the first time around and have posted them! Unless the burial is new, if a record doesn't show a marker, it probably does NOT have one. Being an older cemetery, some flat markers may be buried or tablets broken and not repaired. Some of the public lots are in overgrown wooded areas also. I am trying to list under the inscription section if there is no marker.

I am currently on staff as the general manager at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville. I am back to my homeland but live in Alton, IL where I have been working to restore the grave lot of the founding family of my 1843 home.

I have high numbers because I enjoy spending time in the boneyards with my camera, not because I am a records hoarder! This being said...

*Please note, I will not link family members I have no connection to personally. I don't want to assume and possibly place inaccurate information as fact. If you send me a request to link, I will transfer the record to you so don't be surprised!
*Please ask my permission before using my photos. I am happy to let you use them for ancestry purposes.
Thanks!

Janis
