K. Williams, you are correct that Chic Harley suffered from mental illness the rest of his life sine he was approximately twenty-two years old. What Mr. Halas did that was so horrible was two things. First he cut Chic Na his brother out of a deal on ownership of the Staley's. He changed the name of the team, with the same personnel, and argued that it was a new team. The true is that Chic was forced into playing pro ball. He did not want to play as it was looked down upon at that time for college stars to play pro ball. So, Chic was cut out of his 25% of the pro team the Bears/Staleys.
Second, Mr. Halas spread a spurious story that Chic suffered from syphilis and that that is what caused his mental problems. Chic's entry record from the Danville V.A. hospital clearly shows that he was negative for syphilis. This was circa 1938 before there was a cure for syphilis. There is a good book names "The One and Only" about Chic Harley. i would strongly suggest that you read it. It details his life. Good day to you.

Hi - I think when I submitted the photo of Robert, from our MHS class yearbook, I must have used the 'grave photo' to do it, not realizing there was a 'photo' you could click on. Anyhow, if you want to leave the larger one, it's ok with me. Did you know Robert? best -

Thank you for time to remembering SP4 Leonard Jerome Bibbs. Taking a minute for remembering one of a First Logistics Command member.
