Bio Photo The purpose, aims and objectives of The Descendants of Mexican War Veterans are:

To associate in one united body, descendants of American military veterans of the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848 and to cultivate and perpetuate the ties of fraternity and friendship entailed thereof.
To perpetuate the memory and spirit of the American soldiers and sailors who served their country during the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848.
To foster the preservation of documents and relics of the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848.
To urge, encourage, and assist in activities designed to increased public awareness and understanding of the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848 and its participants.
To establish a facility devoted to study, research and understanding of the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848 and its participants.
To secure and memorialize historic sites within the boundaries of the United States which are connected with the history of the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848 by erecting markers or other monuments thereon.
To encourage the publication of records of individual soldiers and sailors of the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848, as well as the general history of that war in all its aspects.
To promote the annual celebration or observance of certain momentous events in the history of the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848.

Please add my Great Great Grandfather John Sharp #162029499 to your group. He served in Company G, 1st Regiment Illinois Infantry from June 1846 to June 1847. He was in the Battle of Buena Vista in February 1847.

John Williamson enlisted in Millersburg, TN on 28 Sep 1847 and mustered in for duty at Nashville, TN on 4 October 1847
He served in Co G of the 3rd Regiment, Tenn Volunteer Infantry.
Mustered out at Memphis on 24 July 1848

Good morning,

My Grandpa's great-grandfather James E. Watkins Enlisted as a Private for the duration of the Mexican War, of Captain Reed's Company G, First Regiment of the Illinois Foot Volunteers on June 1, 1847.

He was Honorably Discharged.

My great-great grandfather served as a Sergeant in Company G of the 8th Texas Infantry. He was stationed at Fort Lincoln in D'Hanis, Texas.

Please add Rev. John P. Everett who is buried at Shiloh Cemetery in Bernice, La. Everett was a member of the First REgiment Alabama Vols out of Perry County Alabama. He was appointed as 4th Sgt. on April 19, 1847 while enroute to Jalapa, Mexico. He is mentioned in the Mexican War Diary of Cpt. William G. Coleman. He began receiving a pension on July 24, 1881 and his wife received a widow;s pension.
