RE: Colonel John A Fite
Yes, I realize that the folks say that DeKalb was formed from those you mentioned. But in reality, I think there is a misstep there, not sure why it is listed that way. They adjoin, and in lots of books it is listed that the Alexandria area used to be Smith County. Those folks that did the survey likely did not know exactly where they were if they were not locals. Just leave it as it is, but really don't think he is buried where he is located on find a grave. Thanks for checking.

RE: John Donelson
Hi again:
The dates on the headstone in Alabama are: DOB of 4/23/1787 and DOD of 4/28/1840. The dates on your memorial are DOB of 4/27/1787 and DOD of 4/28/1840. Seems like John Donelson is buried in Alabama.
What are your thoughts?

Colonel ("Full Bird") William Sugars McLemore
Grave Hunter...shortly after Brig. General Nathan Bedford Forrest upgraded the authority of 4th TN Cavalry Regiment Commander, Colonel James Wellborn Starnes, MD (By way of Forrest turning command of Forrest's 2nd TN Cavalry Brigade over to Colonel Starnes) in late March 1863...Lt. Colonel William Sugars McLemore - Find A Grave Memorial# 6903896 was promoted to the rank of "Full Bird" Colonel, and, then took over command of the 4th TN Cavalry Regiment.

Brig. General Forrest then went on to command two (2) or three (3) TN Cavalry Brigades, and, later in 1863 he was, therefore, promoted to the rank of Major General, CSA.

Please amend your flower for Colonel/Circuit Judge (Williamson County TN) William Sugars McLemore.

I am,

Sincerely yours,

Michael James Morton - USCT Cemetery Mgr. (#49120946)
