Retired law enforcement and military (Marines and Air Force Reserves) currently in a nursing career.|
I collect WWI, WWII and Vietnam era uniforms, medals, etc as my main hobby but also dabble in autographs and of course work on the family tree from time to time. Most of the memorials I have created are of family or very good friends. But, I also build memorials or write bio's for veterans who do not have a memorial or bio already built - but should have. I live in Tulsa, OK.

|Sharon||Bartlett "Bartlett Guinn" Gwinn|
Thank you so much for the information you have posted here about the Gwinns. This Bartlett is my 6th ggrandfather. I am hoping that you would be willing to share with me your source for the fact that he was born in Antrim, Northern Ireland.
Thank you very much!

Do you have any information on either his mother, Rosa Ann Black Stanley, or his sister, Ida Frances Stanley? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Kathryn Stanley Heilman

|Jerry W. Ferguson||Odell King|
Odell Leon King 10/24/1902 - 11/10/1977 # 13579955 was the first son of Edgar King and Oma Austin King. Oma Austin King died at 17 giving birth or shortly after. Odell was raised by Edgar's second wife. Oma is buried at Bluffton according to her only granddaughter. We are trying to get Find A Grave to move the memorial from Young Gravelly to Bluffton Cemetery.

I found Dorothea's date of birth, 15 Sep 1883, in the Iowa, Births and Christenings Index, 1800-1999: http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&dbid=2547&h=729964&ssrc=pt&tid=100937977&pid=110023087705&usePUB=true.
I haven't been able to find her date of death, although it was after Oscar's death in 1952 (she's listed as his surviving spouse in his obit http://interactive.ancestry.com/50000/93344746?pid=908600&backurl=//search.ancestry.com//cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv%3D1%26dbid%3D50000%26h%3D908600%26ssrc%3Dpt%26tid%3D100937977%26pid%3D110023087705%26usePUB%3Dtrue&ssrc=pt&treeid=100937977&personid=110023087705&hintid=&usePUB=true&usePUBJs=true).
I haven't come across her burial information.
Their daughter Sarah was born in 1907 and died in 1992 (http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&dbid=3693&h=1642118&ssrc=pt&tid=511169&pid=1395455335&usePUB=true). It appears that she never married.
I'm related to Dorothea -- she is my first cousin twice removed. Her mother's sister Emma is my great grandmother. I am the grandchild of her son Francis Aloysius Drew by his daughter Adelaide Anderson Drew. My maiden name is Moira Drew Masterson.
I'll let you know if I uncover any more facts about Dorothea, Oscar or Sarah.

You're welcome. I remembered that request as the name is the same as my insurance agent. BTW thanks for your service. I spent 20 years in the USAF.
|Whimsters||Lieut Guy W Cobb Jr|
I've now added a memorial for his mother. I found her obituary today and it says she's buried at Oaklawn.
|Whimsters||RE: Lieut Guy W Cobb Jr|
I haven't been able to find burial info on either his mother or sister. His mother's maiden name was "Nolen". The date of her death is documented in a biography about his father who was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (sadly, I didn't record the source well enough in my notes to be able to find the original again):
Cobb, Guy William [sic]; ASCE Fellow (1890 - 1970), American Society of Civil Engineers: "In 1914 he married M'Belle Nolan [sic].... Mrs Cobb preceded her husband in death on August 19, 1965."
