Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired/Disabled US Marine. Since my retirement; I find that I have more time to do what I love most. Researching my family and assisting others in their research. I orginially got started in the family tree research in Junior High and have never let go. I love discovering the past and were my family comes from. I truly enjoy history which makes my research and photo taking a pleasure for me. I try and keep in touch with the local cemetery directors about when new stones are placed. My wife hates vacation trips with me - I make it a point to copy the list of graves needed for the area we are going to and swing in and get them. My wife is a decended of Elvis Presley and Gen John Bell Hood of the CSA. Which helps to get my kids interested in the family tree.

For those of you wishing to use my pictures on your personal or even online family trees. You are more than welcome to any picture I have taken. It was a honor for me to give your family a chance to see headstones that they may never have a chance otherwise.

I use generic URNS for my cremated memorials in order to place a memorial on this graves.

My current research revolves around the following families and their ancestors:

Dad's Side
Rush's from Texas - Alabama
Simmons' - Texas (van zandt) / Oklahoma
Duke's - Texas

Mom's Side
Simmons' - Texas (collin) / Oklahoma
Smith's - Texas (collin)

Wife's side
Hood's and Kelley's

Wiley Ledbetter Lunsford
I am Maxine Lunsford Gaddy. Wiley's brother James Pierce was my great grandfather,Wiley's daughter Berlina Ethel married James Levi Rush and had around 6 children,so in my searches I was trying to figure out how you, since you are a Rush, and I see where you maintain a lot of the family's memorials, came into the picture and if you know how WILEY was killed. I was lucky enough to get a picture of one of James Pierce's daughter, Florence Ann her husband and some of their children. If you can help with any information or pictures it would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Boulter Family
Thanks for updating. I need to go out and get a picture of Mr. Boulter's grave to post. He was a very important figure in Smith County education in the first half of the last century. One of the stories I recall him telling was about his first school. There were some big, tough older guys who tried to intimidate him because he walked with crutches. He set up a chinning bar, and chinned himself with one arm. They treated him respectfully after that.

My Gilberts came to Texas from Alabama in about 1854. They wound up in NW Smith County and eastern Van Zandt County. The earliest one I can track was William Gilbert, C. 1780 - c 1855, Alabama. He had 21 kids by two wives between 1801 and 1849, so there were enough progeny to possibly have a tie.

Stokes, David A. #20075669
Hi John, I am helping my sister with her husbands family. His mom is Pruitt, Sarah L. (Hood) #72686160. Her mom Hood, Lucy E. (Taylor). Her mom Taylor, Alice M. ( ). This would be my brother in laws great grandmother. I believe her parents may be Stokes, Willie & Nancy J. (Wilkens) who also had a son David A. born approx 1895. You posted a pic on the above David's memorial - do you know who his parents and siblings are? Any info/help would be much appreciated. Thank you, Diana

RE: Duke Family
John, Those names are not familiar to me, but since they are buried at Creagleville, there must be some connection.
Do you have any dates for them-- birthdays? Marriage?
Any clue for me to go by? I have a LOT of Duke information & will share.
